I published the first snapshot of my Read Cover image for your absence is the darkness of Jón Kalman Stefásson My galivating to London and Stockholm. This month I stay with enough time in my hands to publish the second.

The novel I am reading is Your absence is darkness By Jón Kalman Stefásson (Translated Philip Roughton), a petition, or at least in my terms, so I am halfway. Located in an Icelandic fjord, he follows a writer who suffers from amnesia, but he is careful to hide him from the small community that seems to be well welcoming who knows where. Stefásson weaves the stories of the characters and their ancestors through the writer’s narrative while waiting for a party to begin. The non -fiction book I am reading It’s the poet Amy Key’s Blue arrangements who uses as the adored album and the comfort of his frame key, Joni Michell’s Blue, The Hook who sold me his book. Key reflects on her ambivalence about living alone in her forty years when she hoped to follow the conventional marriage and maternity route, something she had longed for. Beautifully written already raw, it is a very intimate memory, too sometimes.

What about you? What are you reading?
