Paul O’Grady’s husband shared a “bittersweet” video that the presenter filmed only 20 minutes before his death, which, according to Andre Portasio, shows him “as the truly kind man he was”.
In The 35 -second clipPosted on the second anniversary of his death, O’Grady is seen with two of his beloved dogs, thanking the voters who had awarded him a prize.
The television host died on March 28, 2023 of a sudden cardiac arrhythmia at home in Kent at the age of 67.
“It’s incredible how our minds can protect us from the pain in the loss of shock moments,” wrote Portasio in legend.
“Today, my iPhotos reminded me of a lost video that I recorded from Paul only 20 minutes before his visit – which has become the last recording he ever made on the camera.
“In this soft-soft moment, you see him as the really nice man he was, expressing a sincere gratitude to everyone for having supported his book, which he recorded for a ceremony for the awards ceremony to which he could not attend.
“It is difficult to believe that it has been two years since his death. During all this time, he is surrounded by his beloved dogs.
“We miss you a lot @Paulogrady. Happy Celestial Birthday!”
O’Grady was known for organizing television shows, including for the love of dogs, and had one of his pets, Eddie, on his lap when he spun video, with another, sausage, by his side.
He recorded a thank you message for reading and voting for the book of his children Eddie Albert and The Amazing Animal Gang.
O’Grady said: “I am absolutely delighted with my price. Thank you very much.
“And by the way, it’s Eddie. It’s my dog. And Butch in the book is based on this little one.”
He pointed out how calm Eddie was before adding: “Anyway, once again, thank you very much. I really appreciate it. Expect you.”
In the answers, the present television presenter Gaby Roslin wrote: “I miss it so much. It’s special and precious. Big Love Andre.”
Actress Michelle Collins added: “It’s incredible, so sad. You make you realize how a wonderful person he was.
