The end of Arsenal, Bukayo Saka, is ready to return from an injury and could appear in the Tuesday’s Premier League match against Fulham at Emirates Stadium, confirmed manager Mikel Arteta.
Saka has been outside for three months after undergoing surgery due to an injury to the ischiotibial suffered during Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on December 21. England’s international has been a key player for Gunners this season, scoring nine goals and providing 10 assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.
Arteta confirms Saka’s return
“Bukayo Saka is ready to work,” said Arteta.
“We have followed all the necessary steps. Now it is about presenting it at the right time, but it is anxious to play.
“We have respected the recovery timeline and we have done everything required. Bukayo is a massive asset for our team, and we know how important it is for our success.”
Arsenal Premier League position
Arsenal is currently in second place in the Premier League, 12 points behind Liverpool leaders with nine games that remain to be played. Saka’s return could provide a crucial impulse while gunners seek to close the gap in the race for the title.
Calafiori marginalized by injuries
Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori will leave for several weeks after collecting a knee injury while in international service with Italy against Germany on March 20.
“It could have been much worse,” said Arteta. “Hopefully, it will only be a matter of weeks, but we need to see how it recovers.”
