Intelligent watches and smart rings increase in popularity, because more and more people are starting to take their health seriously. Although a fitness tracker is not an essential part of a training, it is useful to keep an eye on your heart rate and other measures. You can also obtain as an estimate of the number of calories that you burn, although these figures can vary depending on the algorithm used by the device you wear. The Gabit Smart Ring is one of these fitness tracker who claims to provide management of a range of temperature measurement features to sleep surveillance.
Although the intelligent rings are always considerably expensive, it should be considered that they pack many sensors, processors and other important components in a much smaller factor. You can pick up an intelligent entry -level active boat ring that costs RS. 3,799 or spend as much as Rs. 38 999 for the Samsung Galaxy ring.
On the other hand, the Gabit intelligent ring is at the price of Rs. 13,800, and the laptop is available in three color options, in smooth and matt finishes. The company also sends a sizing kit with plastic rings before sending the real device – so that you can choose the right size for your finger. But is it ready to replace your smartwatch?
Gabit Smart Ring Design: Good quality of construction
- Dimensions – 8 x 2.7 mm (WXD)
- Weight – up to 3.9 g
- Colors – matt black (in this review), matt silver, rose gold
The company sent us the black variant of the intelligent Gabit ring for this review, and it has a matt finish, like the Silver option. The sizing kit allows you to choose from eight sizes between 6 and 13. You will have to leave the test ring for a few hours so that you know that it is comfortable before selecting the size of the appropriate ring.
Gabit allows you to choose from the sizes with eight rings
Gabit did a very good job with the quality of construction of his first smart ring. The outer part is made from titanium, while the interior section is made up of a non -allergenic resin which causes no discomfort after several hours of use. It is comfortable to wear, does not seem very coarse and it is quite light.
That said, if you go regularly to the gymnasium, it is sure to say that you will spend time with weights and other equipment. Many of them have rough handles (so that you can grasp them correctly) and these perceptible scratches left on the intelligent ring – all in the same place – over time.
You will probably be better with a lighter color, because the small stripes are quite visible on the matt black variant. There are no checks on the smart ring, which means that you will have to open the application to modify various parameters and perform other tasks – we will speak in the next section.
Gabit Smart Ring Software: crowded but full of features
- Platforms – iOS, Android
- Connectivity – Bluetooth Low Energy (Le)
- Characteristics – Sleeping activity and monitoring, nutritional journalization, health surveillance
The smart ring works in tandem with the Gabit application, which works on iOS and Android smartphones. Combining it with an Android smartphone was a simple process, and once you fill certain basic details on yourself (the company’s assistance personnel said you could not use it without creating an account), you can configure your Smart Ring via the Companion application.
The Compagnon Gabit application is a bit crowded and contains a lot of information
Navigating around the Gabit application is quite easy – you will see your sleep statistics at the top, followed by your activity details, stress, monitoring of calories and vital signs. You can press each of these sections to see additional information, and you can also display your data from the previous days. I also noticed that the ring was consistent with the monitoring of health data, and the application showed only missing data that corresponded to what the ring was out of my finger.
Although the companion application includes various controls for the functionalities offered by the ring, many user interface elements (IU) are rather small, such as the button that allows you to record food (useful for counting calories). It should also be noted that certain features, such as Calorie Tracker, require an internet connection during journalization entries. There have been certain opportunities where I opened the application without internet access, only to note that a particular page would not take care.
The ring does not remain connected to the phone in the background, which means that you will have to keep your phone’s screen if you want to see your training details in real time. You should also use the application to start following training, as it cannot automatically detect training. The Gabit website indicates that automatic training monitoring will be deployed in the future, but I could not test it for this review.
Gabit Smart Ring Performance: does the work
- Sensors – PPG sensor, SPO2, skin temperature, accelerometer
- Water resistance – 5atm / 50m
I tested the Gabit Smart Ring while working on different days in my local gymnasium – these training sessions included push, traction, cardio, HIIT and functional strength training. After starting a training session from the Companion application, I would keep my phone aside and I started to train. Once I had finished training, I would open the application and end the session.
The Gabit Smart Ring does not bother most training sessions at the gymnasium
The ring did not really bothered the training sessions, which I used a dumbbell (lifted from the ground, bicep loops), a machine (chest press, shoulder press) or holding a plate on my head during functional strength training. However, any bar with a rough surface (for improved grip) will leave scratches on the ring. It is generally not visible because they are never in the part that faces the rise, but it is something that deserves to be kept in mind.
I wore the intelligent ring to follow my training sessions with an Apple Watch is of the second generation. The purpose of this was not to compare the statistics of the devices – while the independent tests have find That Apple’s smart watches are generally reliable for heart rate monitoring, I just wanted to confirm if the ring would record my heart rate precisely during more intense training (this is the case).
The Gabit Smart Ring has a 5atm water resistance rating, and it does a decent work to monitor training sessions – you must always remember to start a training session from your phone. He also remained secure on my finger after a few laps around the pool.
Once you finish your training session, the Gabit application will synchronize the ring data and update your daily statistics, which includes your number of steps (automatically followed) and your training score, which is based on your training intensity. You can also see an “active” score that indicates your activity level all day.
Cardiac frequency monitoring on Gabit’s smart ring after launching training
I also tested the SPO2 monitoring function by comparing it to an oximeter of BPL finger pulse, and the scores were almost identical. The device can also measure your heart rate, and reading was generally 5 to 10 BPM higher than the value indicated on the Apple Watch SE.
There is also a stressor, which would indicate my stress levels during the day, without offering an explanation. The skin temperature sensor has not really shown a lot of variations, but it is not entirely unexpected. It should be kept in mind that the ring is not portable of medical quality, and it does not replace these devices.
Gabit Smart Ring battery: mainly reliable
- Battery capacity – up to 21.5 mAh
- Charging time – approximately 120 minutes (loading with the USB type -C port)
Gabit says that his intelligent ring offers up to seven days of battery life on a single load, but I found that the figure is a little lower when you use it to regularly follow the training sessions. I was able to obtain about five and a half days of battery life before having to put it back in the case. It was after wearing the ring all day – except when I took a shower or washed the dishes.
I had no complaints with the battery life offered by the Gabit intelligent ring
Although the companion application shows you the battery level of the intelligent ring, I want there to be an adjustment to receive a recall when the battery level falls below a certain quantity – as 15%. Unlike fitness trackers and smart watches, the laptop has no type of indicator, and I found myself at the gymnasium at more than one occasion with less than 10% battery at the start of my training.
I have never ended up charging the ring from 0 to 100 in one time, but the company says that it should take about two hours for a full load. This seems almost correct because it added about 50% of the battery life in about an hour.
Gabit Smart Ring Review: Verdict
The Gabit Smart Ring is a useful laptop that provides fitness tracking features in a compact factor, and it does not compromise on the bases. It reliably follows your activity, your sleep and other health vital, and presents information through an easy -to -understand interface. The battery life is also quite reliable, and you can get a few days of use on a single load, which is partly with fitness trackers worn on the wrist and much better than the most “true”.
The Gabit Smart Ring is a good alternative to fitness trackers equipped with screens
Is this smart ring ready to replace your smartwatch? It really depends. If you just want a device that can follow your activity and your vital signs, and do not care if it has no display that can show you notifications or your training progress, then yes. However, if you train with great weight, you should consider that the ring could pick up some scratches over time, you may want to avoid black color.
At Rs. 13,800, Gabit’s offer is considerably cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy ring (Rs. 38 999) or the Ultrahuman Ring Air (Rs. 28 499). If you are looking for an intelligent ring that is difficult enough to manage training at the gymnasium and reliably follows your activity and your health, then it is worth collecting the Gabit smart ring.
