Two consecutive earthquakes hit the west of Nepal on Friday night, occurring just three minutes apart, the authorities said here.

The first tremor of magnitude 5.2 was recorded at 8:07 pm local time in the Jajakot district, followed by an earthquake of 5.5 at 8:10 pm, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring Center.

Both earthquakes had their epicenter in the Panik area of ​​the Jajakot district, approximately 525 km west of Katmandú.

The tremors felt in the neighboring districts, including surkhet, Dailekh and Kalikot in western Nepal. Despite the intensity of earthquakes, there have been no immediate reports of victims or significant damage.

Nepal, located in a seismically active zone, often experiences earthquakes. The region continues on alert, with the authorities that monitor any replica or potential structural damage in the affected areas.
