Original outing from 1977 to project to London by BFI

The original film outing of Star Wars in 1977 will be presented on the big screen this summer in London, marking its first public projection in decades.

The original version of the science fiction blockbuster will be presented as part of the British Film Institute film film (BFI) on the film on June 12.

The BFI said that this version of the film is rarely screened publicly since the special editions produced by George Lucas were published in the 1990s, modifying certain points of the plot and adding other CGI characters.

Today, only the updated versions are available on official streaming platforms and the Blu-ray, which makes the projections of the original cut of the rare film.

The main conservative of fiction in the BFI national archives, James Bell, said that the festival was a “real showcase” from the national collection.

“Each printing of the program is a unique object, with its own life story, and they have all their scars with pride,” he said.

“They put us at a touching distance until the past, and we can’t wait for the public to experience them all.

“We are grateful to the generous support of the philanthropic champions that helped us offer a rich and exciting program that keeps the film on the film in life.”

Lucas changes to key points of the plot, including the addition of Jabba the Hutt and other special effects upgrades, have long divided fans.

The most controversial revision was the scene where Han Solo by Harrison Ford shoots the premium hunter of generosity Dead Greedo.

In the original version, Solo shoots first. However, the 1997 reissue changed the scene to show that the character of Ford responded in self -defense.

The scene has undergone other modifications, with other versions of the film showing the pair shooting at the same time.

Among the other highlights of the festival, there is an original projection of the original American pilot of Twin Peaks, presented by the star of the show Kyle Maclachlan.

BFI’s film on the Film Film will take place at BFI Southbank and BFI IMAX from June 12 to 15.
