After missing the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Vancouver Canucks have some decisions pending to make this out of season.
First: The future of the Banking Chief Rick Tocchet.
His full contract is this season and, although the Canucks have a team option, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported that Vancouver has cooled with the idea of looking for that option.
“The only thing I think is that anyone, not Tocchet, not the Canucks, wants this to crawl at the end of the season, after the end of the season, too long until summer,” Friedman reported in the segment of the Saturday headlines of Saturday Hockey night in Canada. “I think you’re going to see how this will work quite quickly at the end of the season.”
Friedman added that both parties want to be sure of the plan so that they can continue their plans in the summer.
Meanwhile, Brock Boeser shared with Iain MacIntyre from Sportsnet this week that he felt that staying with the Canucks would be “unlikely at this time.”
Friedman explained on Saturday that the big problem with the Boeser contract is the deadline.
“Never say, but the term is the problem with Boeser and the Canucks have found difficult to unite.”
Boeser is in the final season of a three -year contract and $ 19.95 million signed in 2022. During his nine -year -old NHL career, he has not signed a more than three -year contract.
