Paapa Essiedu, Janet McTeer and Nick Frost will represent Severus Snape, Minerva McGonagall and Hagrid for a new generation of television

Nick Frost, Paapa Essiedu, Janet McTeer and Paul Whitehouse will appear in the next Harry Potter television series, US Network HBO confirmed.

Frost has been interpreted as Hagrid, McTeer will play Minerva McGonagall and Essiedu will represent Severus Snape. All three would be in talks with the network in recent weeks.

HBO has now officially confirmed their casting and announced that Whitehouse, well known for The Fast Show and Harry & Paul, will play Argus Filch.

The network too John Lithgow’s announcement confirmed in February That he will play the director of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore.

The show should start filming this summer, the first series potentially broadcast next year.

The actors playing Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger have not yet been thrown.

HBO launched an open cast for the three main roles, which would have attracted more than 30,000 submissions.

The Francesca Gardiner showrunner and executive producer Mark Mylod said they were “delighted to have such an extraordinary talent on board, and we can’t wait to see them brought these beloved characters to a new life”.

The series of phenomenal successful novels of JK Rowling has already been adapted to a cinema franchise with Daniel Radcliffe as Potter.

The television series, however, will have more breathing space to explore the intrigues of books without the time constraints of the film.

Rowling will serve as an executive producer in the television series, which, according to HBO, will be a “faithful adaptation” of his books.

New casting announcements should soon follow, with rumors swirling on other actors in discussions on membership, especially Cillian Murphy as Voldermort possible.
