An American judge prohibited Trump on Friday from implementing a new policy that allowed him to quickly deport hundreds, if not thousands of migrants to countries other than his, without giving them the opportunity to prove that they fear being persecuted, tortured or killed there.
The United States District Judge Brian Murphy, in Boston, last month had issued an order that temporarily blocked the administration of rapid follow -up deportations, limbing their ability to eliminate migrants subject to the final orders that in some cases have legal protections that prevent them from being sent back to their countries of origin.
The preliminary court order issued on Friday will maintain that order in place until the litigation is resolved.
