Star Wars video games have focused mainly on action for several years, but Star Wars: Zero Company breaks that trend by throwing players into the battlefields of a tactical game for a single player. The genre is still quite popular thanks to games like Xcom, Gears Tactics and Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, but there is still a perceived barrier of entry into a genre that does not hesitate to launch many game mechanics to their audience.
The BIT Reactor developer is looking to avoid this problem with Zero Company, since the study aims to create an adventure of Star Wars that is accessible and attractive for unconditional fans of the genre. In statements to Gamespot, the creative director of Bit Reactor, Greg Foertsch, explained how Zero Company will organically teach the players their systems as they deepen the murky belly of clone wars.
“I think that when you look at these games, in general, many times, mechanics can overwhelm and attack history later. By using history to guide us, do not close doors, open doors.” And it is not just what we want people to play, but also what we want to feel. And so, through the work of the camera, the presentation and the story, I think we can reach many notes and really make this game attractive in a different way and innovate in a way that the other games in space do not do it. I think we are really focused on trying to like those two aspects, immersion and the level of presentation with mechanics. “
“Therefore, we want to make sure that we wrap the game with a good story that makes sense for people and tutorialize things as necessary, instead of hitting people in the head. If you want to experience the game for the story, it is there. You can also do that.” I think that making a game in which people can appreciate, understand and get into it and not feel overwhelmed by him, but he still has the depth and the challenge, you can do both. That is what we have set out to do. “
The creative executive of content and strategy of the Lucasfilm franchise, Kelsey Sharpe, added that Zero Company is a Star Wars game also helps, since being established in that galaxy allows Bit Reactor to do things in the genre of tactics that other games cannot. “You can use the force, you can call an Astromech drug to obtain an assistance, and then also a large part of Star Wars’s stories is based on the relationships that the characters build with each other,” Sharpe explained.
“At the same time that you know the characters of the scrutiny, you are creating these customizable characters and making game decisions about who you are going to send in certain missions together. And that will significantly affect the tactical game layer and the experience you have in the den.”
Star Wars: Zero Company will be launched in 2026 for the PC series, PS5 and Xbox X | S. For more information about the game, you can see the trailer developer and read about how its developers aim to replicate the sensation of Rogue One and Andor war.
