Musicians of the National Opera Orchestra Welsh Accepted a new agreement after a year of negotiations and industrial action.
The WNO announced last year that it reduced its spring tour in 2025 as well as other measures due to “growing financial challenges”.
Among those who support a campaign calling for something to do, included a crowd of the most famous artists in Wales such as Michael Sheen, Katherine Jenkins, Ruth Jones and Sir Bryn Terfel.
Although the new agreement protects the jobs of members, Unions said that the orchestra would lose around 10 vacant seats, so that the campaign to protect jobs was underway.
The members of the musician union (MU) campaigned after the management of WNO said that it had been forced to consider making the orchestra by 15% and reducing musicians by 15%.
His campaign, which included an industrial action supported from September to March, reached the two objectives, the MU said in a statement.
The Welsh government will also provide an additional 1.5 million pounds to support artistic organizations, the union said.
WNO is the largest artistic organization in Wales and one of only two full -time professional orchestras in the country.
“This is an incredibly difficult period for the arts in the United Kingdom and the opera sector was particularly affected, with disproportionate WNO affected and confronted with current financial challenges,” said MU secretary general, Naomi Pohl.
The MU regional organizer for Wales and southwest England Andy Warnock said the WNO was “still in a fragile position overall”.
He added: “It is essential that WNO retains its full -time forces, what we know is the objective of the new leadership of the company, so we need politicians and two artistic advice in England and Wales to join us for discussions on the way it can be achieved.”
