A mother of two Chatgpt credits for saving her life, claiming that the artificial intelligence Chatbot marked the condition that led her to her cancer when the doctors lost it.
Lauren Bannon, who divides his time between North Carolina and the Virgin Islands of the United States.
After four months, doctors told the 40 -year -old who had rheumatoid arthritis, despite negatively trying the condition.
What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
Bannon, owner of a marketing company, began experiencing unbearable stomach pains and lost 14 pounds in just a month, which doctors blamed the acid reflux.
Desperate to identify the cause of his symptoms, Bannon turned to Chatgpt, the great language model made by OpenAi.
The chatbot told Bannon that Hashimoto’s disease can have, an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system erroneously attacks the thyroid gland, which makes it influenced and eventually not active, according to Kennedy News and Media.
Blood analysis could predict the recurrence of skin cancer, shows the study
Despite his doctor’s reserves, Bannon insisted on being tested for the condition in September 2024, and was surprised to discover that Chatgpt was correct, despite the absence of any family history.
This led doctors to perform an ultrasound of their thyroid, when they discovered two small packages in their neck that were confirmed as cancer in October 2024.
Bannon said he would never have found hidden cancer without the help of Chatgpt, which she accredits him for helping him save his life.
“I felt disappointed by doctors,” said Bannon, as Kennedy News and Media said. “It was almost as if they were only trying to give medications so that anything will enter and go through the door.”
“I needed to find out what was happening to me,” he said too. “I felt so desperate. I was simply not getting the answers I needed.”
Bannon said he had been using chatgpt for work. When he asked the chatbot about which medical conditions they mimic the rheumatoid arthritis of the artery, he replied: “It is possible that he has Hashimoto’s disease, ask his doctor to check his antibody levels of thyroid peroxidase (TPO).”
After his cancer diagnosis in January 2025, Bannon underwent an operation to remove the thyroid and two lymph nodes from his neck. According to the report, it will remain under lifelong monitoring to ensure that cancer does not return.
As he did not present typical symptoms of Hashimoto’s disease, Bannon believes that his condition and his subsequent diagnosis of cancer would have remained without detecting without Chatgpt’s help.

“I didn’t have the typical symptoms of Hashimoto’s disease: I wasn’t tired or felt exhausted,” he said, according to Kennedy News and Media.
“If I had not looked at Chatgpt, I would have taken the medication of rheumatoid arthritis and cancer would have extended from my neck anywhere else.”
“I saved my life. I would never have discovered this without Chatgpt. All my tests were perfect.”
Bannon is encouraging others to use the chatbot to investigate their own health concerns, but to “act with caution.”
“If you give something to look for, ask your doctors to try it,” he suggested. “You can’t do any damage. I feel lucky to be alive.”
Dr. Harvey Castro, emergency medicine doctor certified by the National Board and speaker on artificial intelligence based in Dallas, Texas, said he appreciates the role of AI tools such as Chatgpt to create awareness and cause faster actions, but also urges caution.
“AI is not a replacement for human medical experience,” said Castro, who did not participate in Bannon’s Care, Fox News Digital. “These tools can help, alert and even comfort, but cannot diagnose, examine or treat.”

“When used in a responsible manner, AI can improve the results of medical care, but when used in isolation, it can be dangerous,” the doctor continued. “We must prioritize patient safety and keep medical professionals licensed in the center of care.”
