LAHORE:
Pakistan’s former imprisoned prime minister, Imran Khan, described Pahalgam’s terrorist attack on Tuesday “deeply disturbing and tragic” by saying that India needs to act responsible. Nueva Delhi has accused Islamabad to support the attack, a position refuted by Pakistan.
“The loss of human life in the incident of Pahalgam is deeply disturbing and tragic. I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and their families,” Khan said in his X account.
“As I predicted in 2019, the same is happening again after the Pahalgam incident. Instead of introspection and research, Modi Sarkar is again blaming Pakistan,” he said.
“Peace is our priority, but it should not be confused as cowardice,” he said.
Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases, also said: “It is time to stop all actions that are even more polarizing the nation …”
PML-N HEAD ruling punishing and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and president of Pakistan Asif Zaradri, Khan said: “It is naive to wait for any strong position of selfish figures such as Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari. They will never talk against India because their illegal wealth and commercial interests are abroad.
“They benefit from foreign investments and to protect those financial interests, remain silent to foreign aggression and the unfounded accusations against Pakistan.”
