Poco has successfully succeeded in smartphones, so naturally, he wanted to try a new segment. Enter the Poco Pad 5G. It is the first tablet of the Chinese brand, and at first glance, it seems to be a good deal. It offers a large 12.1 -inch LCD screen, a 10,000 mAh battery and a Snapdragon 7S Gen 2. SOC. The tablet also offers cell connectivity and premium design. However, it looks very much like the Redmi Pad Pro 5G. And when you look at the specifications, it is difficult to ignore the fact that the Poco Pad and the Redmi tablet are roughly the same tablet.
Poco assessed the PAD 5G at Rs. 23,999 for the basic option, which is rs. 1,000 lower than the Redmi Pad Pro 5G. Is this a better purchase than the Redmi tablet? Read the rest to discover it.
Poco Pad 5g Design: looks good, but a fingerprint magnet

The Poco Pad 5G has an entirely metal monocoque construction which seems durable and premium. It has a mat finished rear panel with a two -tone design, which likes fingerprints. You may want to take a microfiber cloth everywhere with you. The rear panel has the Poco brand and two circular modules housing a camera and a LED flash. The tablet, although large, is portable thanks to its weight and its thin profile. It has rounded corners, flat sides and tapered edges on the front glass.
You get a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the tablet
The right frame of the tablet houses two microphones, the SIM card tank (supports two 5G SIMS or a SIM card and a microSD card) and the volume switch key. You get two speakers on the upper edge with the Power / Wake button, and the bottom houses two other speakers, a USB type-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The left frame is naked. Overall, it is a well -constructed tablet.
Display and its Poco Pad 5G: Ideal for looking at content

The reversal of the tablet reveals the large 12.1 inch LCD screen surrounded by uniform and rather thick glasses. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 from Corning and offers a 16:10 appearance ratio with a resolution of 2.5K (2560 x 1600 pixels). It also supports an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz and allows you to choose between 60, 90 or 120 Hz. There are three color profiles available on board, including lively, saturated and standard. It is best to leave it to Vivid, because you get good colors with decent blacks.
The 12.1 inch display offers up to 600 nicks of peak brightness
The display supports Dolby Vision and offers maximum brightness up to 600 nits. However, using it outside is not fun because the screen does not become shiny enough. Inside, the panel becomes very shiny.
Coming to sound, the Poco Pad has a quadricular configuration with the management of Dolby Atmos. You also get high resolution audio support via 3.5 mm headphone jack. The audio is quite good on the tablet, and there is a beautiful stereo separation. It becomes noisy, but there is not enough bass at maximum volume. Listening to music is not a great experience, but watching movies and broadcasts.
POCO PAD 5G software: not a lot of bloating

Poco has included hyperos on the tablet, and it is based on Android 14. There is also very little bloatware or preinstalled applications, which is good. You get a mi canvas application that can be used to sketch using the Poco pen. However, I did not receive the pen or the tablet, so I cannot comment on its performance and its use.
The tablet is not intended for heavy work but is ideal for content consumption
Apart from the Mi Canvas application, you also get several hyperos features such as Xiaomi Homeshcreen +, the shared clipboard and the synchronization of cross-notes applications with the application of the camera, which allows you to take a photo on a connected phone and insert the photo directly into the Notes application. The Homescreen + functionality allows you to connect a phone using a Xiaomi account to receive smartphone notifications on the tablet. Meanwhile, the shared clipboard allows you to easily copy and stick images and text between the devices. Multiple tasks are also available on the tablet, of course, and it works as expected. You can have up to two applications running simultaneously on the screen, but you can also add two floating applications, bringing the total to four.
Poco has promised two years of Android OS updates and three years of safety fixes on the tablet, which is good.
Poco Pad Pade 5g Performance: Could have been better

Poco equipped its first tablet with the Socdragon 7S Gen 2 Soc, which works well. The experience of the user interface is mainly fluid during navigation, but I noticed a delay during multitasking, scrolling through the parameter application and launching certain applications such as the camera.
The SOCD 2S Gen 2 Soc is good enough for regular tasks and certain games
I directed synthetic benchmarks on the Poco pavement to get an idea of its performance compared to the Redmi Pad Pro.

As you can see, the Poco Pad has worked similarly to the Redmi Pad Pro, which should not be surprising because the two are essentially the same tablet.
I generally do not face heating problems when using the tablet, and even when I played games such as the BGMI, the tablet only heats up around the camera. I could play BGMI in ultra-high graphic parameters, and it went well without gap. However, playing the game on a large tablet like the Poco Pad is not super comfortable.
Since the tablet also supports 5G connectivity, I tested 5G speeds using Speedtest, and the Poco Pad delivered download speeds of approximately 474 Mbps and 63 Mbps downloads. Video calls have worked well on Airtel’s 5G network.
POCO PAD 5G cameras: decent

The only camera that should be important on a tablet is the frontal head, and the 8 megapixel sensor on the Poco pavement is not great.
The rear camera can take decent photos in daylight
It works well in daylight, and you can make video calls, but I would not recommend using the tablet to take selfies because the photos lack details. It’s the same with the rear camera, where the photos can be used in daylight, but there is a lot of noise and loss of details when there is not enough light.
Poco Pad 5g Batter

The battery life on the Poco Pad was a mixed experience for me. I expected the 10,000 mAh battery to last as long as the Redmi Pad Pro in our HD video loop test. However, the Poco tablet only lasted 11 hours and 50 minutes, while the Redmi Pad Pro survived for 28 hours and 30 minutes.
The tablet does not warm up during the load
The result was also surprising because with regular use that involved several hours of YouTube streaming, half an hour of play, watch Netflix and navigate the web, the tablet lasted about two days without the need for load.
Speaking of load, the Poco Pad supports the fast load of 33W and the charger is provided in the box. Using the adapter, it takes approximately 2 hours to fully load the massive cell with 10,000 mAh.
Verdict Poco Pad 5g
Very well, so should you buy the POCO 5G POCO tablet? Well, in short, yes, because it is a fairly good mid -range tablet. It has a good high resolution screen with good interior brightness, it is well constructed, the performance is not bad, the life of the battery is pretty good and you can even play games on the tablet if you wish. It offers good value for money.
One of its main competitors is the Redmi Pad Pro 5G (review), but it is a slightly higher price without offering anything different. The Poco Pad is a better deal here. Then you have the Xiaomi Pad 6 (review), which is cheaper and offers better performance and cameras, but has a smaller display and battery.
