
Russia has invited the leaders of several friendly nations to attend this year’s victory day parade.
New Delhi:
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will represent India at the Russian Victory Day Parade on May 9 that will mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Germany in World War II, official sources said Wednesday.
Russia invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate the great parade in Moscow, but India transmitted to Russia that Singh will assist.
“An invitation was extended to Prime Minister to attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow. The Russian team was previously informed that India would be represented by Singh Defense Minister,” said a source.
Russia has invited the leaders of several friendly nations to attend this year’s victory day parade.
Modi had traveled to Russia twice last year for an annual summit with President Vladimir Putin and attend Brics’s summit in Kazan.
Russian President is expected to visit India for the annual summit this year.
