There are many adventures to enjoy in Sigirya, but traveling to this historic city can be a alone adventure. Here is a quick guide on how you can get to Sigiriya from Colombo.
Traveling by train

This is the cheapest way to travel to Sigiriya, but also the slowest. The train station closer to Sigiriya is in Habarana with just a train that makes the trip from the Fort Railroad in Colombo. Once you get off in Habarana, you can take a bus directly to Sigiriya.
Taking the bus
The bus trip is around 4 hours since there is no direct route to Sigiriya. But there are several buses that you can take from Pettah, Colombo:
- Bus 15 to Anuradhapura
- BUS 48 TO KADURUWELA
- BUS 49 TO TRINCOMALEE
You can go down in Dambulla or Habarana and then take a direct bus to Sigirya from there.
The journey by car
Travel by car is the easiest option, since you can use it to get to your Hotel Sigiriya directly. You will have to take the A01 (The Kandy Road) until you reach Ambepussa; Then turn off to Kurunegala through the A06 and stay on the route until it reaches Sigiriya where the hotels like Sigiriya Jungles Sri Lanka wait.
Organize a flight
For a different experience, you can take a domestic flight from the Katunayaka airport to the force of the Air Force in Sigirya. The trip will take the 30 minutes during which you can enjoy panoramic views under you.
