British Broadcasting Corporation has filed a complaint before an antimonopoly regulator of the United Kingdom complaining that aggregators such as Apple News and Google News minimize credit for the stories they present.

Apple Insider informs that The BBC is asking the United Kingdom competition and market authority. Demand Apple and Google to more outstanding credit sources. And although the decision of the CMA would apply only only to the publications of the United Kingdom, any change made by the presumably aggregators would also affect other editors.

“If the public obtains value of our content and services, but attributes that value to the Guardians instead of the BBC, that undermines the perceived value of the BBC,” wrote the station in her complaint.

This perceived value can be particularly important for the BBC because most of its funds from a license rate paid for British households, so it is important that the station’s work is visible and valued to maintain support for the rate.

Apple recently stopped AI news summaries after complaints of inaccuracy of the BBC and other editors.
