Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, Flamingos, said a brilliant 4-0 victory against Algeria in the first leg of its FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying U17 World Cup on Sunday at the Stadium rowing in Ikenne.
The Nigerian girls took control of the game from the beginning and never looked back. Queen Joseph gave the flamenco an early advantage in the third minute, ending an orderly ball. She doubled the advantage in the 16th minute with a strong shot that beat the Algerian goalkeeper.
Zainab Oluwaseun put it 3-0 with an intelligent finish in the 33rd minute, which put Nigeria firmly in control before part time.
Algeria tried to fight in the second half, but Nigeria’s defense remained strong and maintained a clean blade. In the additional time, Aishat Animashaun scored the fourth goal to complete a perfect night for flamenco.
The victory gives Nigeria a great advantage in the second section in Algiers, where they will wait to finish the work and reserve a place in the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA Women’s World Cup U17 2025 in the Dominican Republic.
