Beijing:
The Chinese army announced new exercises on Wednesday in sensitive waters near Taiwan, a day after Beijing launched drills to surround the self -managed island that states as its own.
The exercises on the river route of the Strait of the Crucial Taiwan Strait are aimed at “testing the capacities of the troops” in areas such as “Blocking and Control, and precision attacks on key objectives,” said Colonel Senior Shi Yi, spokesman for the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese Army, in a statement.
The exercises are found in the middle and southern parts of the Strait, said the military, which is a vital artery for global shipping.
The last exercises arrive a day after China sent their army forces, the navy, the air and the rockets to surround Taiwan, which led Taipei to send his own forces.
Beijing has increased the deployment of combat airplanes and naval vessels around Taiwan in recent years to press his claim for sovereignty, which Taipei rejects.
Taiwan is a potential inflammation point between China and the United States, which is the most important security partner of the island.
China opposes Washington’s support to Taipei, which Beijing insists in part of its territory and has threatened to put under its control strongly.
Tensions through the Taiwan Strait have intensified since the Taiwanese President, Lai Ching-Te, assumed the position in May 2024.
