He took the Senate Democrats for a while, but it seems that they are mostly aboard where their voters want them to be. Senate Democrats are a minority, but unlike the camera, senators at least have some procedure movements that they can use to stop things and block Trump’s agenda. Last week, we discuss how Republicans in the Senate feel exhausted and frustrated because the Democrats are slowing everything and defeating the Senate.
The Senate Democratic leader, Chuck Schumer, made his part to stop the Trump administration and the protest when using his blue slip to block two of Trump’s nominees to be American lawyers in New York.
Schumer said in a statement:
Donald Trump has made it clear that he has no fidelity to the law and intends to use the Department of Justice, the offices of the United States prosecutor and the application of the law as weapons to persecute his perceived enemies.
Such shaded and depraved political motivations are deeply corrosive for the rule of law and leaves me deeply skeptical of the intentions of Donald Trump for these important positions. For that reason, I will not return the blue slip for the nominees to the United States prosecutors for the districts of the South and East of New York.
