Company recalls nearly 23K pounds of bratwursts for possible plastic contamination

Johnsonville, based in Momence, Illinois, produced the meats on February 5, 2025, according to the Food Security and Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture (FSIS).

Specifically, 19 -ounce sealed tray packages containing five pieces of Bacon Cheddar Bratwurst were recovered with the “B9FOD” package code. The label of each recovered product carries the establishment number “Est. 1647”, said FSIS.

The Bratwurst was sent to stores in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.

FSIS said the problem was discovered after Johnsonville alerted the agency that he had received two consumer complaints, informing that hard plastic material was found in Bratwurst.

FSIS reported that any person in possession of the products removed from the market should throw them or return them to the place of purchase for reimbursement or replacement.
