TDK Corporation announces the HVC50, a high voltage CC contactor designed to connect or disconnect lithium ion batteries with up to 1500 V in traction applications, energy storage systems (ESS) and megawatt loading systems (MCS). With this component, TDK allows its customers to boost green transformation towards a fully electric society and reduce carbon footprint.

In a single event, the HVC50 can disconnect CC voltages up to 1500 V and DC Corrientes up to 1000 A in less than 30 ms. Continuously, it can transport up to 750 A. with a weight of 1.7 kg and measure 97.8 x 140 x 94.2 mm, this component is designed for the demanding requirements of industrial applications and commercial vehicles, combining reliability, safety and easy integration.

The HVC50 presents a ceramic arc chamber with a gas -filled design, ensuring fast and safe current disconnection even in extreme conditions. Its contact with integrated mirror, which complies with IEC 60947-4-1, improves operational safety by providing precise commutation comments. Thanks to the bidirectional capacity of the contactor, the currents can flow in both directions without problems, which makes it exceptionally versatile. A double coil design for operational voltages of 12 or 24 V guarantees an energy efficiency operation. The manufacturing power is 50 W, while the power state power is only 6 W, because after about 200 ms, one of the two coils can be turned off.
