Clair Oscur: The Expedition 33 Sandfall Interactive developer has announced that the game has already sold 500,000 copies, just after the launch. In a publication on social networks, the study said the game reached this sales milestone “before we had never imagined.”

Expedition 33 is also in Game Pass, and presumably the 500,000 figure does not include people who play through the subscription service. Expedition 33 is the best -selling number 2 game in Steam at this time, only behind remastered Oblivion, and has reached more than 70,000 concurrent players. The game is also on PS5.

Some industry observers theorized that expedition 33 could have begun their lunch remastered by Oblivion, since it was surprised only two days before expedition 33. Both are titles of game passes, but clearly, there is enough space for multiple success stories this week. Both Bethesda and Sandfall shared congratulatory messages with respect to their respective game releases this week.

Expedition 33 was developed by a central team of around 30 people in Sandfall. “I really believe that five or six years ago it would have been impossible for a team of our size to do this,” said creative director Guillaume Brooche to PC Gamer on the use of Epic’s Unreal Engine 5.

Gamespot’s Expedition 33 review obtained a 9/10 game, with the Richard Wakeling reviewer writing: “There are small difficulties in relation to its close exploration and some problems of quality of life, but these false steps are not enough to significantly stop a game with all creations of an RPG classic.”
