Hockey fans were almost treated with the fight of ultra rare goalkeepers on Sunday night until officials got out.
Kuemper was not happy with the collision and started the Khusnutdinov helmet that began a fight in front of the fold of the. The Bruins goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman, apparently did not want to be out of the fun, so he skated for central ice and signaled Kuemper to join him.
The Kings netminder was forced to skate Swayman, while both goalkeepers throw their blockers and gloves. But the officials were too fast and intervened to stop the fight of dry goalkeepers.
“(Kuemper) touched one of my boys, and I think that was something that I will not accept,” Swayman said after the game. “And congratulations to him, he took a step forward. He only broke.”
In the end, both Kuemper and Swayman received two -minute sanctions for leaving the fold. Kuemper also received a penalty to tear to strip Khusnutdinov’s helmet, while Khusnutdinov received two minutes per interference from the goalkeeper.
There has not been a fight for goalkeeper in the NHL since the Covid-19 Pandemia, with the last scrap between Mike Smith of Edmonton and Cam Talbot de Calgary on February 1, 2020.
The officials also intervened to keep Jordan Binnington from St. Louis and Marc-Andre Fleury de Minnesota to fight in March 2023. Binnington was expelled and received a suspension of two games for throwing a blow to the striker Wild Ryan Hartman.
