Holly McCulloch ICK

I am delighted that my last My weekly The online review is The ICK By Holly McCulloch.

My great thanks to Izzy Warner of FMCM for sending me a copy originally.

Posted by dialogue imprint renegade on March 6, 2025, The ICK It is available for purchase through the editor’s links here.

The ICK

Six feet two with blue eyes ✅

HEADS AND STRONG ARDS ✅

Giant turtle backpack ❌

Gem’s date looks promising. Atlas has 6’2, with blue eyes, dimples and strong hands that seem to be at home wielding an ax. But when he says he eats lunch soup, Gem is immediately beaten with the ICK. Suddenly, he is painfully aware of his giant backpack that makes him look like a turtle, his colorful socks and his hair that is too loose.

Gem, who collects ICKs like others collect loyalty points, is inflexible in which the phenomenon is his instinct, but his housemate and best friend Shanti does not agree, and challenges Gem to participate in a study for his psychology course: Is intuition real?

Gem finally decides to participate, but doing so means that you have to break all your own rules. She sees Atlas for a second appointment, a third and even a room, until she begins to lose the count. Everything is for research purposes, of course, but what happens if the impossible happens and Gem falls in love with Atlas? And if he discovers that they are paying him to go out with him, will he ever forgive her?

My ICK review

My complete review of The ICK It can be found on the My Weekly website here.

However, here I can say that I loved it The ICK. It is a perfect example of a com that not only entertains, but covers deeper issues that raise a tear and make the reader laugh out loud.

About Holly McCulloch

As a fourth child in an busy home, Holly often let himself entertain herself. He was not great enough to hang out with his oldest brothers, and he wasn’t a goalkeeper good enough to spend his time with his younger brother. Fortunately, he quickly found the world of books and since then, he has never looked back. When I was a child, Holly often went to sleep with at least four books under her pillow in case she needed them. And she often did. The books have saved him again and again.

After a period that works in a literary agency, then a period that works in a Big Four editor, and then a period that worked as a book buyer, Holly made the terrible decision to become a management consultant. After four years, and I still have no idea what work really involved, the books saved it once more. She wrote her first novel Only friends (Published by TransWorld in 2020) When I needed to escape. Your second novel, The confusion followed in 2021.

She currently works as an independent editor and writer, and lives on the outskirts of Oxford with her dog, whom she called with love Schitthead (TED) after the best man -known television program. She is fed by baked products and the need to make people laugh.

For more information about Holly (and TED), follow her on Instagram.
