In July, HP unveiled its first Snapdragon X Elite laptops in India. The EliteBook Ultra and the Omnibook X are the brand’s first COPILOT + PC. We were sent to the Omnibook X focused on the consumer for examination. It is supposed to offer up to 26 hours of battery life and grouped with AI features activated by the NPU dedicated in the Snapdragon X Elite chipset. The laptop is in competition with other laptops based on Snapdragon X available in the country, such as Dell XPS 13 (9345) and Asus VivoBook S15 OLED.

The Omnibook X has a starting price of Rs. 1.39,999, but the simple design will make you ask you why it is so expensive. However, after using the laptop for more than two weeks, I think I know the answer. Should you get it instead of Dell or Asus alternatives? Read the rest to discover it.

HP Omnibook X Design: Basic

  • Dimensions – 312.9 mm (W) x 223.5 mm (d) x 14.4 mm (H)
  • Weight – 1.34 kg
  • Colors – Silver Meteor

It may seem that HP slapped an AI logo at the back of the hinge and called it one day. However, there is more than what meets the eye. Yes, the Omnibook X looks basic and will not win you with style points, but it does the job. It’s like these bmw or boring Audi that will never disappoint you. He even has a matching BMW / Audi / Audi metallic finish. The laptop is thin at only 14.4 mm and weighs approximately 1.34 kg. You get curved sides, a reflective HP logo on the lid and the Omnibook logo on the exterior cover of the hinge.

Omnibook X has the AI logo at the back and below the keyboard

Speaking of the hinge, it is a solid piece that seems durable. However, it is also difficult to open the laptop with one hand. HP claims that the laptop has achieved 19 MIL-STD tests, which is impressive. The lids have 50% recycled aluminum, and the keys use 50% recycled plastic.

There are not too many ports on the laptop, but it’s more than some ultrabooks

As it is an ultrabook, the selection of the port is minimal. You get two USB type-C ports on the left side that support power delivery and DisplayPort 1.4. The right edge houses a 3.5 mm audio socket and a Type A USB port (USB 3.2 Gen1).

HP Omnibook x Display: Decent

  • Size and type – 14 -inch LCD touch, 300 nits
  • Resolution – 2240 x 1400 pixels, 16:10 Appearance ratio
  • Protection – Corning Gorilla Glass NBT

The opening of the lid, which requires two hands, reveals the LCD 16:10 screen which offers touch support. It is not a particularly shiny sign; Using it outside is not ideal, but it is well inside. The display obtains thin glasses with slightly thicker glasses at the top and bottom. Another HP logo is available under the screen.

The 14 -inch display supports the touch entry

The Omnibook X has a decent display compared to its competition, which offers OLED panels and higher brightness. The panel here offers a 2.2K resolution and a good color outing, which is ideal for watching your favorite shows. However, there is no HDR or high refresh rate here. It would have been more pleasant to have an OLED panel with higher brightness. However, there is an advantage of the IPS display: a longer battery life.

HP omnibook x keyboard, touchpad, speakers and webcam

  • Keyboard – full size, backlit chiclet
  • Speakers – double oriented downwards
  • Web camera – 5 megapixels with confidentiality shutter

I loved typing on the Omnibook X. It has a chiclet keyboard with a good trip and a beautiful feeling. The keys are wide and there is a good spacing between them. I could type on this keyboard for hours. You also get an adjustable backlight, which I found adequate at night. There is also a dedicated co -pilot key, Duh!

Going down, you get a large trackpad with a multitouch support and a smooth and reactive surface. The clicks could have been better because I sometimes had trouble recording a right click on the two fingers.

Laptop entry is a pleasant experience

Coming to the speakers, you get two downwards in front of the front. It sounds well when you have the laptop sitting on a table, but there is not much bass. They are not very noisy either. HP could certainly have done better here.

The web camera is good, however. You get a 5 megapixel unit which offers good video quality in daylight. The camera also worked very well in low light. There is also a physical confidentiality shutter, and the webcam supports Windows Hello and Studio effects. HP also includes a poly camera application that uses AI for automatic framing and panoramic, background effects, etc.

The windows on ARM are still a bit of a bet, especially, especially if you use Adobe photo editing tools. However, this is only a matter of time before all your favorite applications are compatible with ARM.

Omnibook X HP software: ingenious

  • OS – Windows 11
  • AI – Copilot +tools, HP AI Companion, Poly Studio

The HP OMNIBook X software experience was similar to other Windows 11 laptops, but with the addition of a few HP tools. In addition to the Copilot + Chatbot usual, the Cocreator function in the paint application, live legends and Windows Studio effects for video calls, you get a bunch of tools supplied by AI to HP. It all works quite well.

You get a lot of AI tools on the Omnibook X

There is the HP AI companion, which gives you access to a personal assistant. However, you need to connect with an HP account to use this feature. It is fundamentally like the Copilot chatbot; You can ask him questions and share PDF files for summaries. You can also use it to optimize your laptop for what you need. Then there is the Poly Camera application which works similar to the effects of Windows Studio, but you also get additional features such as Automatic IA framing, panoramic and IA noise reduction. Again, I tried these features, and they seemed to work well most of the time.

HP Omnibook X Performance: Snappy when you need it

  • CPU-Snapdragon x Elite X1E-78-100
  • RAM – 16 GB LPDDR5X 8448 MHz
  • Storage – 1 to M.2 SSD
  • GPU – GPU Adreno

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon X Elite processor with 12 cores is doing a good job. It’s lively when you need it, but it doesn’t consume as much power as before. You can easily run most applications, and multitasking is also child’s play on the laptop. I did not notice any discrepancy when performing several Chrome instances with a few other applications, such as Slack and Whatsapp.

The laptop does not warm up under the load

I ran a few landmarks on the laptop to see how it behaves against a few other Snapdragon x Elite laptops, and here are the results.

ReferenceHP Omnibook XDell XPS 13 9345
Geekbench 6 single2,4182,795
Geekbench 6 Multi13 96814,478
Geekbench ai npu (quantified)20,69122,200
Cinebench 2024 single106121
Cinebench 2024 Multi640997
Nomad light in 3dmark steel2,1501 931
3DMARK CPU profile9,2758,459
3dmark night raid24,08325,732

All the tests were performed with the CPU profile defined on the best performance, and the laptop was connected. It should be noted that Dell XPS 13 (9345) has a high -end snapdragon x chipset. However, the Omnibook X worked fairly well in synthetic tests.

The laptop can run most applications, provided it supports the arm. It is a very good laptop of productivity. You also get WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and connectivity is also ideal. I would have liked it if HP had supplied more RAM, because I noticed a little offset when the laptop of sleep is wake up.

As for heating, the laptop was barely heated under regular use, which involved navigating the web, broadcasting 4K videos or performing several applications. The only time it was heated slightly, it was during the reference tests, and most of the heat was concentrated in the upper left corner of the keyboard.

HP Omnibook X Battery: Farewell Battery Anxiety

  • Capacity – 59 Wh
  • Load – 65W USB Type -C

This is the third Snapdragon X Eliteed laptop that I have tested, and the anxiety of the battery is really a thing in the past. I could comfortably get a battery life for the entire working day of the Omnibook X. You can also easily watch your favorite shows, thanks to the less energetic LCD screen. Sleep is also excellent on the laptop, because it would only empty about 5 to 10% of the maximum battery during the night. During the two weeks I had the laptop, I completely loaded it three times.

The laptop has a large intake grille at the bottom

HP provides a compact 65W fast charger in the box, which can quickly complete the battery. A full load took about an hour and a half.

HP Omnibook X Verdict

If you are looking for a non -flashy work laptop with a large battery life, a light design, a good keyboard and windows, then HP Omnibook X is an excellent choice. It has some drawbacks, but it is not enough not to recommend this. The display may not be as good as competition, but the LCD panel has its advantages.

Do not let the simple design be wrong, the HP Omnibook X is a well -built Ultrabooks Windows which is ideal for productivity and a certain creativity. The alternative is the Dell XPS 13 (9345) (review), which, although it costs the same thing, does not offer the best strike experience or the lifespan of the similar battery. However, if you compare it with the Asus VivoBook S15 OLED (Revue), then the Asus goes out in mind.
