Infinix xpad review: compact and competent

Like most of the budget tablets available in India, the first tablet of Infinix, the XPAD, was designed to focus on content consumption, with large screens accompanied by speakers. But adding cell connectivity to RS. 12,999 (for the basic 4 GB + 128 GB) variant), you can also make calls with it, adding additional value. We have received the high -end 8 GB storage variant and 256 GB for this review, which is at Rs. 15,999, which is a competitive price for a budget tablet. Indeed, Infinix seems to have obtained the value quotient from the start. However, what makes budgetary devices interesting is to discover where manufacturers cut the corners. And my boy, I was for a few surprises!

Infinix xpad Design: Plain Jane

  • Dimensions – 257.04 x 168.62 x 7.58 mm
  • Weight – 496 grams
  • Finies – Titan Gold, Frost Blue, Gray Stellaire

Despite its prices, it is clear that Infinix has not reduced quality. The tablet has a metallic monocoque design that wraps on the sides. Except for rounded corners and the square camera module, all the surfaces of the tablet are correctly flat, including its sides.

Infinix XPAD has a metal monocoque design with a textured plastic insert at the top

A third of the back of the tablet is wrapped in brushed aluminum (metal), while a small band, which also takes over, is plastic for radio. Although the power / volume pimples and the SIM card tray are at the top, the rear camera module is at the back of this plastic insert, which has a funny circular pattern on top.

Although the plastic insert does not bring together fingerprints or spots because of its textured nature, the metal part does it. The right part is that these spots are only visible from certain angles. The bad part is that they are not easy to wipe.

The tablet offers 4G connectivity and can also be used to make voice calls (via its speakers).

I want Infinix to have included a basic cover box in the box or even sold as an optional accessory. Since this tablet weighs almost half a kilo, a foldable case which would also be a basic stand would have been useful to keep it straight while consuming a video, which is the main argument of sale of this tablet. The tablet does not support any accessories and is only delivered with a cable and a charger in the box.

Infinix XPAD display: not the most fluid experience

  • Display size – 11 inch, 1,200 x 1,980 pixels
  • View type – IPS LCD, 90Hz
  • Display protection – Glass

The display of the Infinix XPAD shows natural colors. It is a very basic LCD IPS panel, so you shouldn’t expect deep blacks like an Amoled panel. Vision angles are limited to the user only because the contrast and brightness levels drop considerably when consulted outside the center. The odd appearance ratio of the 16:10 screen works well when you watch films, which means that you will see a minimum of letters at the top and bottom.

The 90 -Hz refresh refreshment display of the tablet is sufficiently shiny outside

When using the tablet, I noticed that the screen has never changed its brightness levels depending on the lighting around me. So I assumed that the adaptive brightness can have been extinguished. After some research, it turns out that the tablet does not have a switch to its display settings. Basically, you will have to manually adjust the brightness to your environment each time, which can be a break for some. Adaptive brightness is a basic functionality that is even found on entry -level smartphones, so it is a little surprising to see it omitted on this tablet.

Infinix XPAD software: Back to the basics

  • Operating system – XOS V14
  • Android version – Android 14
  • Last security correction – September 2024

Despite its XOS brand, Infinix has done fabulous work by delivering a seriously reduced version of the software. Android 14 on Infinix XPAD is an experience close to employment with some native infinix applications like Xarena, Folax (AI) and my health. The only third party application that cannot be uninstalled is Carlcare (for after-sales support).

Infinix xpad Review Folax Ai Gadgets 360 Infinixxpad Infinix

Folax AI cannot replace Google Gemini which are already available on most Android devices today

Folax AI is a great integration for a budget tablet. It mainly works using the Open AI Chatppt, and therefore the results are decent, provided you ask the right questions. Configure is also easy and takes a few clicks. The assistant is also operated by voice and can be triggered by a voice command. However, with gemini already available, I found that these (with Google Assistant) better integrated to manage or check the requests related to the system, as simple as defining a timer were not possible to use Folax AI.

Infinix xpad Performance: Average tips

  • Processor – Mediatek Helio G99 (2.2 GHz, 6nm)
  • RAM – 4/8 GB LPDDR4X
  • Storage – 128/256 GB EMMC (extendable up to 1 to)

Regarding daily use, the XPAD does an excellent work to launch applications and multitasking, but it cannot somehow keep too many applications in memory despite the packaging of 8 GB of RAM. Expect that the older applications restart after launching more than 6 applications. Although the overall application change has met the expectations in terms of sweetness, the scrolling in any application was quite stuttering, referring to the lack of optimization of software and bad GPU performance.

The performance of the games, given the basic budget, is decent. The tablet is better suited to occasional games than graphics with high intensity of graphics. Asphalt Legends Unite was playable with several skills sautéed with high quality graphics. However, even in high quality, the graphics lacked good textures and the objects seemed quite in block on the big screen. I then tried Call of Duty: Mobile. The game takes place maximum on average graphics and the frequency of images high, but the touch response when reading the game was too slow for competitive FPS titles.

Infinix XPAD Review FM Radio 35 mm Jack Gadgets 360 Infinixxpad Infinix

The 3.5 mm headphone jack is mainly useful when setting in radio stations via the FM radio application

As for synthetic references, the Infinix XPAD managed 731 and 1,984 points in Geekbench, which is much better than the 407 and 1,351 scores of the Redmi Pad SE. The tablet also managed 4.72,167 points in Antutu and 63, 26 and 15 images per second in the T-Rex test, Manhattan 3.1 of Gxfbench, respectively.

Since most games have reached a maximum of 60 Hz, the refreshment rate at 90 Hz is only useful during navigation in the software interface, but even these interactions felt jerky and stammered, which was surprising given the software close to employment.

The inclusion of a 3.5 mm socket is a good idea at this price, but most will find the sufficient quad-swabrier configuration both when you watch videos or playing games. The tablet also supports Widevine L1 security, so you can enjoy full HD resolution streaming shows. The speakers produce a rich sound in bedroom with just enough bass to make the experience of vision pleasant, even at full volume. The 3.5 mm headphone jack is used, if you want to listen to the FM radio using the FM radio application.

Unlike most smartphones at this price, there is no secure form of biometric authentication on the XPAD. The tablet offers basic access code unlocking, and you will have to hit an access code each time you need to use it, as it even lacks a basic 2D factor unlock function.

After a while, it can become boring, without forgetting that everyone around you will know your password given the number of times you continue to hit him with the spectators present, whether in an office, at home or even in a local metro / train.

Infinix XPAD cameras: does the job

  • Primary camera – 8 megapixels with flash
  • Selfie camera – 8 megapixels with flash
  • Rear camera video recording – 720p / 1080p @ 30fps, 2K @ 30fps

The photographs of the primary camera are passable but do not package with a lot of details and do not show the saturated colors. The Selfie camera does a decent job and offers a flash that can be used when setting up video calls in low light. Indeed, the presence of a front flash makes a solid case for the missing front unlock function.

Bottom: Selfie camera sample, high: primary camera sample (press the images to develop)

Video recordings produce average details with flat textures, even in broad daylight. Stabilization is not great and the camera tends to cut areas or light objects in contrasting daytime scenes.

Infinix XPAD battery: nothing new

  • Battery capacity – 7,000 mAh
  • Load rate – 18W
  • Load in the box – Yes

The Infinix XPAD only manages 7 to 8 hours of continuous use if everything you make is the broadcasting of films all day. If you are watching films recorded on the local storage of the tablet, it will last 11 hours and 7 minutes, which is essentially the result of our battery test in video loop. As for the load, the 18W charger takes 3 hours and 5 minutes to load fully, managing a load of 21% in the first 30 minutes. Overall, the battery and load are similar to what the competition offers.

Infinix XPAD: Verdict

The PAD X8A of Honor (9,999 rupees) is the only worthy competitor of the XPAD of Infinix, because the company also offers an optional coverage (or combo) which doubles a stand. However, it does not do when it comes to equipment because it is only available with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and also lacks cell connectivity. The honor does not provide a charger in the box either. The Redmi Pad 4G (RS. 10 999) is also a decent competitor, offers similar specifications (with the exception of an 8.7 -inch smaller display) to the honor table and is delivered with an optional cover accessory.

In the current state of things, the Infinix XPAD is the only tablet that does what it does in this budget segment, and there is really no touch, whether it is hardware, software or battery (despite its missing features and performance hiccups). And so, the XPAD, despite its faults, is always easy to recommend because it offers very good value for money.
