Winnipeg’s jets have to cross their fingers on their star player.
The Mark Scheifele Center left game 5 on Wednesday against St. Louis Blues before the second period and was ruled out at the beginning of the third.
The Jets chief coach, Scott Arniel, had no update on the state of Scheifele after the Jets won a 5-3 victory in game 5.
It is not clear when Scheifele could have suffered an injury, but he was at the receiving end of a great success of Blues Bluesden Schenn captain in the first.
However, the Blues coach Jim Montgomery insisted after the game that Scheifle really was injured in a radek phasek blow, and not in the collision with Schenn. Montgomery said the Jet Star played six minutes after the blow for Schenn.
Playing without the 32 -year -old would be a great loss for the jets, who seek to advance beyond the 1st round for the first time since 2021. The striker has six points (two goals, four assists) through five games this postseason, including an assistance in the Kyle Connor game opening goal.
Scheifele was second in the score of the regular jets season, with 39 goals and a personal record of 87 points to help take Winnipeg to the presidents trophy.
