Anaheim, California-Steven Lorentz scored the draw goal in an ingenious deviation with 8:25 to play, and the Toronto Maple Leafs blew a two-go advantage before meeting for a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.
Max Domi and Mitch Marner also scored and Joseph Woll made 28 salvages for the leading leafs of the Atlantic Division, who were 2-0-1 on their three-game trip in California by beating Los Angeles and Anaheim in consecutive nights.
Leo Carlsson scored his twentieth goal and Sam Colangelo tied him in a power play at the beginning of the third period for Anaheim, which will soon conclude his seventh consecutive season that is not played. Lukas Dostal stopped 20 shots.
Domi walked around the captain of the Radko Gudas Ducks and beat Dostal with a setback at the end of the first.
Marner scored his goal 23 after getting away from Gudas for a getaway at the beginning of the second, but Carlsson put a shot in traffic 71 seconds later for his fourth goal in three games.
Colangelo then scored his own rebound to tie at 2:16 of the third.
Maple Leafs: They are advancing towards the postseason, winning six of eight to take a three -point advantage over Florida and Tampa Bay.
Ducks: The present is ugly, but the future could be brilliant. Carlsson and Gauthier are standing out in the section of another lost season.
Lorentz, a fourth deception crusher, had to make an impressive lateral movement to give birth to David Kampf’s air for his second goal in 10 weeks. Gudas could not tie Lorentz’s stick.
Carlsson has the first season of 20 goals for any Ducks player less than 21.
The Maple Leafs receive the Panthers on Wednesday night. Ducks receive sharks on Tuesday night.
