Moto G35 5G Review: Offer more for less

We saw the launch of several smartphones in India in 2024, from entry -level handsets to flagship models and foldable phones. The budget segment sees a lot of competition from combined companies in the country, each new model offering iterative upgrades on their predecessors. Motorola recently launched the Moto G35 5G as its most affordable 5G smartphone. This handset will compete with smartphones such as the Redmi A4 5G, the Tecno Spark 30C 5G and the Blaze of Lava 2 5G.

You can recover the G35 5G motorcycle for RS. 9 999 in India, and it is sold in a single 4 GB + 128 GB of configuration and storage configuration. Does this offer enough value for money like other smartphones at the price of Rs. 10,000? Read the rest to find out more about this handset in my Moto G35 5G review.

Moto G35 5G Design: Familiar look

  • Dimensions – 166.29×75.98×7.79 mm
  • Weight – 185g
  • Colors – Guava Red, Geule Green (in this review), midnight black

The new Moto G35 5G is available in mat and vegan leather finishes, and it looks very much like her brother more expensive in the G series – the G45 5G motorcycle (review). In fact, if you have placed these handsets next to each other with their rear panel up, you may not be able to distinguish them. Subjectively speaking, it is one of the most polite smartphones in this price segment.

The G35 5G motorcycle is very much like the most expensive G45 5G motorcycle model

The sides of the smartphone are plastic and have a gentle feeling. The left edge has the SIM tray, while the right side has the volume rocker and the power button – the latter also serves to scan fingerprints. There is a Type-C USB port, as well as a 3.5 mm helmet port and a calendre of speakers.

The company sent us the G35 5G motorcycle in a green color with a vegetable leather finish which facilitates the seizure. It also comes with a transparent TPU case in the box, as well as a 18W charger and a USB type-A cable to USB Type-C.

Moto G35 5G software: clean user interface, shipped with bloatware

  • Software – My UX
  • Version – Android 14
  • Last security fix – December 5, 2024

The latest smartphone in the G Motorola series works on Android 14, with my UX operating on the company. This is the same interface which is available on more expensive models such as the G45 5G motorcycle, and it is delivered with software functionalities exclusive to the company’s handsets, such as Motorola Secure (secure file, network protection) and family space (family orders).

After configuring the smartphone, I was invited to “try” (install) three third -party applications by the Moto App Manager application which is also preinstalled on the company’s smartphones. The installation program informs users to install three new applications monthly when a system update is installed. These applications can be uninstalled like any other application than a user chooses to download on their smartphone.

This handset should receive a single Android OS update, which means that it should get Android 15 next year. It would have been pleasant to see the company offer at least two Android OS upgrades for this smartphone, given the fact that it ships with Android 14, which was published a year ago. Motorcycle G35 should receive security updates until August 2027According to the company’s assistance website.

Moto G35 5G Performance: Decent for the price

  • Processor – UNISOC T760
  • Memory – 4 GB LPDDR4X
  • Storage – 128 GB UFS 2.2

The Moto G35 5G is equipped with a 6NM UNISOC UNISOC chipset launched in July. It is an octa-core processor which includes six Arm Cortex-A76 (2,2 GHz) and four cortex A55 (2 GHz) nuclei, as well as a Mali G57 MC4 GPU. This puts it equally with the SOC Mediatek Dimensity 6300, which has slightly faster A76 nuclei (2.4 GHz) but a slightly older Mali G57 GPU.

As you can probably see, it is not an exceptionally fast processor. However, it’s good enough to manage daily tasks like browsing the web, sending SMS to someone on WhatsApp and using social media applications like Facebook or Instagram. I noticed a little delay in slightly more demanding applications like Snapchat and Google Maps.

Moto G35 5G reference results (Press to expand)

You can play occasional games on this handset without any problem – I tested some of the third -party games that have been downloaded after setting up the phone – and it can also manage certain titles like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) if you use the lowest graphic settings. I also executed Asphalt Legends unit on the default parameter without any problem.

I also carried out several reference tests on the G35 5G motorcycle to better understand how it is carried out against smartphones equipped with processors which offer comparable performance, such as the Redmi A4 5G, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G and the Infinix Note 40x. The performance of the handset seems to be tied with some of these models sold at higher prices.

You can consult the table below to see how the G35 5G motorcycle behaved on reference tests, compared to similar models of other smartphones manufacturers.

Motorola has equipped this smartphone with a Full HD + LCD screen (1,080×2 400 pixels) of 6.72 inch with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The screen cooling rate can be defined at 60 Hz or 120 Hz – while the latter offers a much more fluid experience, you may want to leave it in the default mode for a better life of the battery life.

Visibility is not ideal when you are outside in full sun, but it is quite usable at other times of the day. After searches the settings, I found a switch under Settings> Display> Extra brightness that improved the brightness level of the screen, but also resulted in faster battery emptying.

Motorcycle cameras G35 5G: does the job

  • Primary camera – 50 megapixels (f / 1.8), pdaf, up to 4k / 30fps video
  • Ultra -reality camera – 8 megapixels (f / 2.2), 120 -degree vision field
  • Selfie camera – 16 megapixels

The G35 5G motorcycle is a budget smartphone with a rear double camera configuration. It is good to see that the company did not bother to add a macro or a low -resolution depth sensor, which are generally disappointing when they are included on the phones of this price segment.

When you click on photos with the camera of 50 primary megapixels during the day, the phone offers light images with a decent amount of details, for a budget smartphone. It also accurately reproduced the skin tones, when capturing portrait images. The subjects that are closer to the camera will certainly have more details, and the camera application is fast and fast when taking photos.

The 8 -megapixel ultrawid camera produces images that are not as detailed as the main camera, and you will notice a separate lack of detail when you zoom on these images. For example, I clicked on an image of a panel on the other side of the street using the primary and ultrairs camera, and only the image captured with the former included readable text.

In low -light and night scenarios, there is only one camera that deserves to be used on the G35 5G motorcycle, and the 50 megapixel sensor is better used in combination with the night vision function available inside the camera application. It takes a few seconds to capture an image, but the difference in detail is quite obvious in our camera samples.

Motorola equipped the handset with a 16 -megapixel selfie camera, which captures decent images during the day. In the darker scenarios, he always manages to let enter enough light for a recognizable image, but you also see a lot of smoothing and noise.

There is no image stabilization on the G35 5G motorcycle, and the smartphone allows you to save a video up to 4K / 30 IPS using the main camera and up to 1080p / 30 IPS using the ultrawid camera. Again, the first is the one to be used during recording with this handset.

Motorcycle battery G35 5G: Slow to be loaded, slower at the discharge

  • Battery capacity – 5,000 mAh
  • Cabinized load – 18W (USB Type -C)

The UNISOC T760 chip on the G35 5G motorcycle seems to be quite effective, because the handset is capable of delivering much more than a day and a half of the battery, before needing another load. In our HD video battery loop test, the phone lasted about 18 hours and 50 minutes, but keep in mind that these are synthetic tests.

The G35 5G motorcycle offers more than one day of use on a single load

In daily use, battery discharge on the G35 motorcycle is not high during active use as well as in standby mode. I used the phone to make calls using WhatsApp, browsing the web and checking social media applications, and playing some occasional games – it delivered around 5.5 hours of time screen, as well as around 21 hours of waiting.

Loading the G35 5G motorcycle from 0 to 100% can take some time, especially if your battery is low when you connect the handset. During the time I tested the handset, it took about two hours for a full load, using the 18W adapter included in the box.

Moto G35 5G Review: Verdict

The G35 5G motorcycle offers good performance for the price, surpassing more expensive smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G (Revue) and the Infinix Note 40x on certain reference tests. It also offers 5G connectivity under RS. 10,000, a reliable battery life and decent performance of the camera.

The G35 motorcycle offers good value for money at its current RS. 9 999

It should be noted that the company only offered one upgrade of the Android operating system for the G35 motorcycle, while the above -mentioned Galaxy A16 5G is more expensive and should receive up to six upgrades.

Other smartphones at similar prices that you can consider instead of the Moto G35 5G include the Redmi A4 5G (First impressions), Tecno Spark 30c 5g and the slightly older 2 5G lava blaze.
