My review of one in a million
Whitney ‘Sahara’ Richardson has everything mapped, or so you think!
One in a million It is a quick game of a reading, being pure escapism, which makes it a perfect beach book. Without giving the plot, of course, there is everything one could expect in this type of fiction. There is a forced proximity since Whitney and Myles, without knowing, are sharing a child. There are enemies in lovers, since the two find that they actually have much more in common than Haylee. And, of course, there is a happy to finish. But the plot that covers these elements is very funny, very sexy and totally absorbent, since it gives an idea of the world of the rich and famous with which the simple mortals can only dream. At the same time, there is an ingenious dialogue and a real humor that add additional dimensions, so it is very fun to read.
Speaking of additional dimensions, there are issues in One in a million That might surprise those readers who avoid this type of fiction. The stress of living life in the world’s care center, the nature of corporate businesses and ethics, the different types of laws and a consideration of the birracial heritage are woven throughout history, so that the narrative is informative and intelligent, as well as a cracking reading that shows true emotions at times.
Having read the first book, SymbolicI was pleased to see recurring characters like Kennedy and equally pleased to discover that they did not dominate this narrative so that it is not necessary to read the books (although I suggest that you do it). He was very entertaining discovering more about Whitney. He is a fabulous protagonist, is beautiful, ingenious fast and independent and, nevertheless, with a vulnerability and an occasional tendency to judge others negatively too fast so that, although it is a attractive and successful global mega -stress, it is also identifiable and real. This is a book about real people.
I also enjoyed knowing Myles, but who doesn’t? You will have to read One in a million To find out why for yourself.
The dynamics and relationships that involve Haylee provide the fundamental action for the narrative. I have absolutely no interest in children and I don’t have a maternal atom in my body, but this element seemed really fascinating. There is a super consideration of paternity and what really constitutes being a mother. This aspect does One in a million Highly relevant to today’s society.
I enjoyed a lot One in a million. It is a varied and attractive narrative that can be read on several levels that I completely recommend. I hope to meet these people again in future books.
