The Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said Monday that he plans to direct the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) to stop recommending the addition of fluoride in the water, while preparing a working group to assume the issue.
Associated Press reported that Kennedy had the publication about his plans after attending a press conference with the administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lee Zeldin.
The EPA announced on Monday that it is reviewing new sciences on the potential risks for fluoride health in drinking water, since the agency has the authority to establish maximum levels of fluoride in public water systems.
Although Kennedy does not have the authority to tell communities to stop adding fluoride to water systems, you can lead to the CDCs to stop recommending it, while working with the EPA to establish the allowed levels.

Kennedy supervises the CDC, although the agency’s recommendations are only that and are not mandatory.
Utah became the first state last month to prohibit the addition of fluoride in public drinking water, despite the opposition of dentists and national health organizations that warned that the action would lead to medical problems among low -income communities.
Even so, Governor Spencer Cox, a Republican, signed the legislation that prohibits cities and communities from deciding whether to add fluoride, a mineral that prevents cavities, to water systems administered by those cities and communities.

For May 7, all water systems will be required throughout the State.
Kennedy told AP that he was proud of Utah for being the first state to ban florur, and added that he hopes other states will follow his example.
More than 200 million people in the United States receive fluorked water through community water systems, said Associated Press (AP).
Grand Rapids, Michigan, was the first city to implement water flow in 1945, according to CDC.

“Community water flow benefits all members of a community by preventing cavities, reducing oral health and saving money for all,” says the CDC website.
Kennedy and supporters of his initiative to make the United States again (Maha) has been Franco on prohibiting fluoride in drinking water.
“Fluoride is an industrial waste associated with arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurological development disorders and thyroid disease,” Kennedy wrote in X in November.

CDCs do not require community water fluoration, but appointed the flow of drinking water one of the 10 major public health interventions of the twentieth century, citing the dramatic decline of cavities.
