The Sennheiser HD 620S headphones at the price currently at Rs. 32,990, were launched in India on August 12 and are supposed to offer immersive and high fidelity sound in a closed format. They transport dynamic 42 mm dynamic transducers with a 38 mm diaphragm and a detachable cable of 1.8 m with an outlet of 3.5 mm. The wired headphones are equipped with reinforced stainless steel banders and padded earpieces with thick cushions. It is said that they would offer users a spacious sound scene in a closed design. How do these headphones be in terms of features and performance? We will discuss it in the following journal.

Sennheiser HD 620S Design: Snug Fit

  • Size – 18 x 19.5 x 4.6 cm
  • Weight – 670g
  • Color – Black

Although it is not new for a closed helmet, the design of the Sennheiser HD 620S is delivered with deliberate elements which make them ergonomically adjusted. A closed helmet is designed to capture the sound in your head while rejecting a large part of the sound outside. Because there are no reflections in the ears, the open backs give off a more natural tone. However, the advantage of a closed helmet is the isolation of significantly better noise, which we will discuss below.

The headphones are delivered with metal strengthening bands

The design of the Sennheiser HD 620S, in particular the form of the ears, recalls the Sennheiser HD 500 series of over-ear. Reinforced stainless steel banders and adjustable ears padded with thick cushions help them better adapt. The padding is lined with artificial leather on the wrists and the aerial band. We could expect there to be heating problems around this padding, leading to discomfort. However, I was not faced with such problems during the exam period.

On the contrary, the adjusted adjustment of the Sennheiser HD 620S headphones allowed me to use them for several hours both without any fatigue. Large headphones also guarantee that there is no excessive pressure on the ear. Due to its oval shape, headphones can easily be hosted around the ears. The drop in the strip cushion also helps to alleviate most of the pressure created by these food headphones.

The cursor and headphones of the Sennheiser HD 620S headphones can be removed, pushed and agitated to adjust according to user needs. If you wear glasses regularly, adjustment could be a problem. This will largely depend on the frame and / or the shape of your glasses. With me, the trick was to put the glasses first, then adjust the headphones.

Sennheiser HD 620S Specifications: Simple

  • Driver – 42 mm dynamic transducers with 38 mm diaphragm
  • Impedance – 150 ohm
  • Frequency response range – 6 Hz at 30,000 Hz

The latest version of Sennheiser in the estimated HD 600 series presents advanced engineering with its dynamic 42 mm custom transducers and its specially designed 38 mm diaphragm. These food headphones are designed to provide a wide and detailed frequency response which extends from 6 Hz to 30,000 Hz, claiming to ensure a rich and immersive listening experience.

With a level of healthy pressure of 110 dB and a nominal impedance of 150 ohms, they offer powerful and clear audio performance. The Sennheiser HD 620S offers a closed back design that helps isolate sound and reducing external noise, while the inclusion of a 150 ohms aluminum vocal coil still refines audio quality, which makes them ideal for professional and audiophile use. This reflected combination of components aims to offer exceptional sound fidelity and a high level of acoustic precision.

Sennheiser HD 620S Performance: Sound

  • Cable length – 1.8 m
  • Cable type – 3.5 mm plug; 3.5 mm adapter to 6.3 mm

Going to the performance of the handset, the overall sound experience of the Sennheiser HD 620S is `healthy ” (good), but the bass presentation seems to be more on the heat than to emphasize the weight or impact of the notes. It contains a little more punch than the bass of an open helmet. But that would not suit someone looking for heavy headsets.

The Sennheiser HD 620S excels in providing a nuanced and engaging mid -range performance, making it an excellent choice for audiophiles who appreciate clarity and wealth in this region of key frequency. The headphones offer a well -balanced and precise mid -range which gives life to singers and instrumental with remarkable clarity.

Tailor -made Dynamic transducers and diaphragms of HD 620S work together to reproduce mid -range frequencies with remarkable precision, ensuring that the voices are clear and that the instruments have a realistic stamp. This clarity allows a more immersive listening experience by successfully highlighting subtleties and minor textures in music. Whether you listen to the warm voice of a singer or the complex layers of a string quartet, the HD 620S offers a convincing and engaging performance. We see examples of this clarity in songs like Wilderness by explosions in the sky, hoping helpless by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, or I Want You (it is so heavy) by the Beatles.

However, the triple performance of the Sennheiser HD 620S is disappointing. In most cases, the highest beaches seem somewhat stifled and ventilated. In a song as you must have the freedom of Pharoah Sanders, heavily loaded with piano and plugelhorn tracks, this lack of details on higher heights becomes significantly obvious.

The headphones do not have a microphone support

In addition, in terms of noise isolation, the closed -back physical model reduces disturbances more than open back models. However, isolation is not significant. If you are in an already quiet place, you can be spared by the occasional steering wheel here and there. But do not expect to be able to concentrate without distraction if you are sitting in the same room as the TV or someone who speaks.

Sennheiser HD 620S: Verdict

Sennheiser HD 620 are a good choice for audiophiles, especially those who wish to use them for publishing or other professional efforts. For wired headphones with passive noise isolation, the RS 32.990 price can be a little too much for occasional listeners. Compared to the open back models of the series, these headphones offer more noise cancellation, but the sound is not as open as they are. The solid experience, in this regard, is limited by the very design of the helmet. Note that headphones do not support microphones. You may need to use an external microphone for calls and other purposes.

There are not many other contenders in this specific category of audio products. However, you can consult the Sony WH-1000XM5 (review), which are headphones supported by active wireless noise (ANC) with tactile control characteristics, at the price of India to Rs. 34 990.
