A shampoo brand has been withdrawn due to a potential health risk.
Henkel, a consumer brand manufacturer, announced Tuesday that Tec Italy Totale Shampoo has been taken from the shelves for a possible contamination with the Klebsiella Oxytoca bacteria.
The Henkel Mexico unit voluntarily withdrew 1,068 shampoo units after microbiological analyzes revealed the presence of bacteria, according to a press release sent to Fox News Digital.

The shampoo was distributed in New York and California and could have distributed even more to other states, Henkel warned.
The product was also sold directly to consumers by retailers.

The shampoo removed from the market is packaged in a green plastic bottle of 33.81 ounce of fluid/1 liter, marked with the 1G27542266 lot number on the side and the UPC code 7501438375850, the release declared.

Exposure to these bacteria can cause effects on health on humans, including eyes infections, nose and skin, with “additional reactions for consumers with computed immune conditions,” according to Henkel.

“To date, there have been no user damage reports or injuries related to these products,” Henkel said in the statement.
“Consumers who experience symptoms or have a medical question associated with this retirement, should consult a doctor immediately.”

Consumers who have bought the affected bottles of Tec Italy Shampoo Totale must “stop using the product and return the products to their purchase place to obtain a complete refund,” Henkel recommended.
