Octobox Sta Automation for Wi-Fi tests

Spirent Communications, a leading provider of test and guarantee solutions for next-generation devices and networks, announced the octobox STA automation package, the industry’s first solution to complete replacing the manual tests of slow, inconsistent and intensive in resources with automated workflows of structured, repeatable and scalable validation.

Wi-Fi technologies are rapidly evolving with Wi-Fi 6 and 6E implementations that are projected to exceed 80 percent of the market share in 2025, and next-generation Wi-Fi 7 adoptions that make significant advance. This rapid absorption of the new era of wireless technology is presenting challenges for manufacturers, eager to guarantee reliable performance of increasingly sophisticated Wi-Fi connected devices.

“The complexity and time required to test next-generation Wi-FI devices have increased exponentially with advances such as 320 MHz channels, 4096 QAM and multiple link operation,” says James Kimery, vice president of Spirent wireless product management. “Our new STA automation package is designed to help quality guarantee equipment to address these front challenges, with comprehensive automated performance tests that can reduce the test time to 70 percent compared to manual methods and allow the execution of dozens of test scenarios in the time it ever took to execute only a few.”

Octobox Spirent TestbeD is a customizable set of chambers and isolated instruments to test Wi-Fi devices and devices by air (OTA) and the new STA automation package provides a fully automated set of tests that guarantees optimal performance in real world conditions. It allows manufacturers to automate the execution of tests of multiple repeatable stations, during the night and parallel to eliminate the inconsistencies associated with manual tests and allow the validation of more devices, in more environments, more frequently.

The STA automation package addresses key problems in the evaluation of Wi-Fi devices:

  • Performance and performance: Achieve profits of up to 50 percent with integral tests of multiple rates
  • Scalability: Admits extensive tests of multiple and multiple environments without human intervention
  • Comprehensive validation: Ensures maximum performance, speed against the range, the scanning of fixed MC, Mu-Mimo, Ofdma, Rotability of Roaming and Compatibility with previous versions

The STA Automation package is based on the integral capacities of Octobox Wi-Fi Station tests and is perfectly integrated into the Bed Octobox Bed Ecosystem, which allows manufacturers to thoroughly validate a range of Wi-Fi stations, such as smartphones for consumption, laptops and tablets, medical care applications and education, and network devices.

The Octobox Sta Automation package is also available as part of the Spirent test as a service (TAAS) for Wi-Fi devices to reduce the response time for devices sent to SPIENT for performance tests.
