Star Wars: Zero Company will have a varied list of characters as part of the main team, including a Mandalorian, Jedi Padawan and an Astromesh’s drug, but for the main protagonist of the hawks, the players will be free to customize that operation. In statements to Gamespot, the creative director of Bit Reactor, Greg Foertsch, revealed that players will have a selection of options to help adjust the appearance of the hawks, from gender and voice to their species in the Star Wars galaxy.
“You can live that character as you want,” Foertsch said. “If you want to change the species, you can. If you want to change your voice, you can.”
The driving issue behind Hawks will be their history of origin as former officer of the Republic and how they are forced to gather a heterogeneous team to face a dangerous adversary while clone wars in the background. While Hawks has been designed to have enough personality for players to improse themselves, the list of “authors’ characters” by Zero Company will have their own different stories and personalities that players will discover as they advance in the game. One of these allies is Tell, a Jedi Padawan in a search to finish the final mission of his fallen teacher, and there will also be some friction between the rest of the crew due to natural rivalries and animosity.
Interestingly, players can strengthen ties between these agents, resulting in powerful synergy skills that can help change the battle. “With the characters of the authors, I think that something that the team in Bit Reactor has done a great job is a bit woven in the different perspectives that you would expect in the galaxy and the clone wars, with this specific story and this adversary with which their company is getting worse,” added the creative executive of Lucasfilm Games Kelsey Sharpe.
“It’s like a bit of intrigue, the more you know about Star Wars, but also if you don’t know Star Wars, just to see that trailer, you see how they bounced on each other and you say: ‘Oh, this is not the gang of funny times that I thought they were,’ right?”
