The lovely Stephanie Butland has appeared here in Linda bag Several times (and he even forgave me a few years ago, when I accidentally made a cover revelation for one of his books a week before, an error that I have never recovered!) I love his books and with the last one of Stephanie today, I simply had to invite her back to the blog to tell me everything about it.
Let’s find out more:
Stay with Stephanie Butland
Welcome to Linda bag Stephanie and thanks for accepting to stay with me.
Tell me, which of your books have you brought to share tonight and why have you chosen it?
I have brought my new book, The Second Opportunity Reading Club. Mainly because I can’t stop looking at his beautiful cover! Who needs television when a book looks like this?
I could not agree more. That is a beautiful cover. And leave today, congratulations. What can we expect from one night in The Second Opportunity Reading Club?
I have been absolutely impressed by the reader’s responses to this book. By the time a novel goes into the world, I am not a disaster, but I am certainly doubting half a way to convince myself that this is the worst I have written (and very possibly any other person). So the first reviews mean the absolute world for me.
I think many authors feel that way. How have the first criticisms be?
Here is a Netgalley couple:
This novel is full of lovely surprises and small moments of possibility that kept me hooked until the end. The Second Opportunity Reading Club It is simply beautiful, full of heart, and a reminder of the transforming power of compassion, family and connection. I can’t recommend it enough!
AND
If you like Sarah Winman’s novels, Juliette Henderson and Clare Pooley, I think you will enjoy this radical story with Dual Pov about an orphan that is found. While September lives his life and is reaching an agreement with a family that never thought he would know, we have a dual timeline in the past that gives us the information about how he was lost. I found this particularly heartbreaking and simply revives my feeling that we should really live the life we want, and not worry so much about what they say ‘others’. Yes, it can be difficult because we must be brave to get out of the lines of what others consider that it is good for you, but oh, our lives will be much richer.
Those are fabulous responses. I am so happy to have The Second Opportunity Reading Club In my tbr. I have the feeling that I will love.
What else have you brought and why have you brought it?
I have brought Nachos, which are the best food in the universe (I will not take questions about this). We have guacamole, sour cream, sauce and cheese to the side: we do not need to improve perfection.
I am certainly not going to argue!
I went to Portland, Oregon, in June of last year and discovered sour beer, which is light and, often, a little fruity and the best when it is served ice cream on a warm day. I have spent a good 15% of all moments of vigil since I thought about it again.
Sounds tasty. I will join you in a beer in a minute.
I have also brought my fabric. I rediscovers the fabrics when I had breast cancer in 2008, and now it is a part of my life that honestly could not tell you the last time I was one day without weaving. I would bring some social fabrics, something that really does not need any attention, something that I don’t even need to look. So probably a simple sock. The fabric makes me a better listener, I think, and it also means that I could have the opportunity to eat some of the Nachos.
Click Stephanie: I am more than happy to eat the nachos. Although I started weaving a dragon just over a year ago when I had the operation of my foot and I just finished my body, so maybe I also do a little of that.
Thank you very much for staying with me The Second Opportunity Reading Club publication day. It sounds only my type of reading and I know how wonderful your books are.
Thanks for a beautiful night!
My pleasure. Now, pour a beer, take your knitting needles and give readers some more details about The Second Opportunity Reading Club.
The Second Opportunity Reading Club
Dear Mrs. Blythe
We are dealing with a heritage that can be a beneficiary.
Send any document in your possession that relates to your birth and adoption.
September is at the end of his ingenuity. There is never enough money to keep her boyfriend herself. September has nothing to expect.
Then the letter comes. September has inherited a house of an aunt grandmother who never knew. It would make sense to sell it. But when he sees the place, the orange door, the garden, the tree, the beating of bruise doors, he does not want to let it go. Not yet. Then the members of the reading club arrive, and she begins to discover the history of the family she did not know. And to make new friends.
September feels safe here. But money only cannot bring satisfaction. September is just at the beginning of a trip full of surprises, clashes and opportunities, if it is brave enough. . .
