Plezi Nutrition, the public benefits company co -founded by Michelle Obama, has created a new sports drink with Stephen Curry.

The four -time champion of the National Basketball Association Stephen Curry is associating with former first lady Michelle Obama to launch a healthier sports drink option.

Curry and Obama announced on Wednesday the launch of Plezi’s hydration, through the Obama Public Benefits Company, Plezi Nutrition. The drink adds to the growing portfolio of companies outside the Curry court, since the 37 -year -old approaches the last years of his career as a player.

The sports beverage market is a space full of people, but Curry said that the approach of drinking and well -being drink makes it different. The drink does not promote sugar or artificial sweeteners, less sodium than the main rivals and a complete daily dose of vitamin C.

“We have created something with intelligent ingredients and unbeatable flavor, so that people can feed their bodies in the right way. Without nonsense, without shortcuts, because the next generation deserves better,” Curry said in a statement.

Plezi will be available in three flavors

The category of sports drinks is largely dominated by three main players. Pepsico Gatorade has a 61%market share, followed by Coca-Cola Powerade in 14.5%and Bodyarmor with 11.8%, according to the Euromonitor International data analysis company.

Curry joins the growing list of athletes and celebrities who invest in the sports and energy drinks market from the deceased Kobe Bryant (Bodyarmor) to LeBron James (Mtn Dew Rise), to the fighter and influencer Logan Paul (Prime).

The general demand for advanced hydration is very strong at this time, according to Howard Telford, senior manager of the soft drink industry in Euromonitor.

In the sporting category ready to drink, the volume decreased to 2024, but sales increased due to higher prices, Telford said.

The category faces pressure from the increase in dust mixing concentrates and oral rehydration marks such as Pediyte and Electrolit that challenge the domain of traditional sports drinks.

Plezi said that Curry was not only an investor in the product, but also helped in everything, from the royal drink to the packaging. His wife, Ayesha, who has a culinary history, also helped with the creation and taste of the drink.

Plezi, which means “fun” in Creole, will be available in three flavors: Lima lemon, tropical punch and orange mango turn. Curry’s favorite flavor is the orange mango turn.

Drinks will be sold in California in Walmart, Albertsons and Safeway, in addition to available throughout the country at Amazon. The 16.9 ounces bottles will cost $ 2.29 each and contain 70 calories in a complete bottle.

“We are excited to provide a delicious and healthy option for all who try to act and stay hydrated,” said Obama, co -founder and strategic partner of Plezi Nutrition, in a statement.

Obama launched plezi nutrition in 2023, with the purpose of “helping to raise a healthier generation of children”, after “Move us!” campaign during his time at the White House.
