The last of us the season two summary “the path”: calm after the storm before the storm

There is an understandable and undeniable veil lying The last of us After last week’s shock. And it is calm before the storm that will make up the rest of the season: Ellie and Dina’s trip to Seattle to find Joel’s Killers. But in the midst of the sadness of this loss and the frustration of Ellie Do not obtain the support of the city in its plan of revenge is the absolute pleasure of seeing more Ellie and Dina together.

They were probably the highest point of the first episode – their chemistry did not immediately hit the levels of Joel and Ellie, but Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced were doing an excellent work together from the start. Here, we can see much more together, and the combination of play and Dina planning is a solid counter of dry humor of Ellie and impulsive nature.

An excellent example is their trip to Seattle on horseback, while Dina updates Ellie to name the best group that she can think of for each letter of the alphabet, something that Ellie finally has enough. Dina says that she can find another match, and Ellie immediately quips that they could simply travel in silence, something that Dina ignores and makes her talk to her about the first person she had to kill. Just the kind of Road Trip companion, Ellie, needs right now.

Dina is at her best in this episode when she burst into Ellie by planning an escape from midnight from the city to translate Abby into justice by herself. Earlier in the episode, the Jackson municipal council voted for its proposal to bring together a large crew to take care of the WLF group – mainly because the city was so devastated by the horde infected on the same day that Joel was killed that they cannot spare the people. Naturally, Ellie is ready to become a thug and to leave alone, but it is not really ready. Dina shows up at her house, teases so as not to have planned to bring something other than firearms and explain exactly what they need and what they do not do. Oh, and she has already ready to go. It is a little too bad to say that Ellie is not the brain of the operation, but it would certainly certainly have trouble without Dina.

Beyond her practical skills, Dina flirts with Ellie constantly throughout the episode, asking Ellie to assess their kiss on the New Year’s dance, teasing her to want to carry her conversation in a long journey, whispering in Ellie’s ear that she East A hard -to -cook after Ellie makes a silly -style film proclamation. But perhaps the most revealing comment that she makes is after having very briefly discussed this Kiss Nye – Ellie says that Dina was high, Dina says that Ellie was drunk, and they both agree that it did not mean anything. They then turn off the light in their tent, and Dina cannot help saying that she was not that high. The version of Ramsey and Merced of “Will-Year, will not have” brings a lightness that is well necessary for their situation.

And to be clear, lightness is essential. Even if there is not much real action, the fallout from the death of Joel and the infected seat are everywhere in this episode. It starts with Tommy to slowly cleanse Joel’s body before the camera withdraws and shows a whole piece of body covered with sheets. This is followed by Ellie Awakening in a hospital with a tube coming out of her chest; She then shouts a bloody murder by remembering what happened to her. This does not mention the visit of the sunrise at the grave of Joel where Ellie smiles briefly as she puts coffee beans by her side, or her walk in her empty house where she finds her signature watch, her revolver and her jacket. Keep the fabrics at hand.

While Ramsey’s Ellie is her best when he is in partnership with Dina, she also does an excellent job alone – the aforementioned hospital scene is frightening, but my favorite Ellie moments in this episode are when she tries (and fails) to convince the people she is going. Her speech in the city’s assembly encouraging them to continue the WLF is not the deactivated anger that Jesse encouraged him to avoid, but you can say that Ellie is just trying to appease the masses instead of saying what she really wants. The same goes for her conversation with Gail the therapist when she leaves the hospital, although Ellie does not even try to hide her therapy platitudes behind a plating of belief.

Curiously, it was Seth (the Bigot who was overthrown by Joel in episode one) who says what really feels, interrupting the meeting when someone opposes the plan to go to Seattle. Seth is enraged by what has happened to a member of his community and thinks that they should continue justice at all costs. It is far from being the most measured catch, but it certainly looks like the most honest.

Thus, it is not a huge surprise when it is ready to help Ellie and Dina as they leave the city, offering them a charge of supplies and insisting that Ellie takes his best rifle. He says he would go with them, except to catch a friendly fire during the infected battle, to which Ellie replies “Are you sure it was friendly?” She is clearly not ready to forgive her her words, but a better pistol, some supplies and a shared desire for revenge brings her enough. She squeezes her hand offered as they leave the city.

The showrunners say that season two will have more infected than the first season – let’s see if they stick to their word.

No infection to see here, apart from some charred corpses around Jackson. It’s very good with me after last week’s strength test.
