The original star of the Coronation Street Philip Lowrie died at the age of 88.
Lowrie, which appeared in the first episode of the ITV soap opera in 1960 while the original bad boy Dennis Tanner, died on Friday, said his publicist Mario Renzullo.
“My client and very dear friend, Philip Lowrie, the beloved actor renowned for his role as Dennis Tanner on Coronation Street, died yesterday,” he said.
“His death marks the end of an era of the oldest soap in the world, when he has become the cornerstone of his narration.”
Lowrie was born in Ashton-Under-Lyne, in the Grand Manchester.

When the soap started more than six decades ago, the character of Lowria was considered a national heart thanks to his role as naughty.
Dennis was presented as the son of Elsie Tanner and moved with his mother after being released from prison.
Lowrie had initially auditioned for the role of Ken Barlow before the launch of the show and appeared in the first episode at the age of 24.
William Roache was quickly thrown like Ken for the start of the soap and became a regular combat partner for Dennis.
He left the street in 1968, when he married Jenny Sutton and moved to Bristol, and only returned.
Corrie reappearance
According to Mr. Renzullo, Lowrie was presented in September 2011 with a Guinness World Records certificate to be the longest gap between television appearances as the same character in the same program.
Dennis quickly came into contact with the newsagent Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox), who was her darling when she appeared for the first time in the show in 1966, and they made the knot on her return.
He left soap in 2014 and was killed later without making another appearance on the screen.
Varied career

After graduating three years later, he quickly received his first games in the West End, appearing with Dame Margaret Rutherford and Peggy Mount in the Defee, Farewell, Eugene game.
He also appeared in the comedy shows of Victoria Wood, such as Victoria Wood’s All Day Breakfast, Victoria Wood, Pat and Margaret, live in your own room, and we would like to apologize.
His main roles in stage in the 2000s and 2010s understood being in the mouse of Dame Agatha Christie, the case of the frightened lady and the lady disappears.
