The VIVO V40E was launched in India towards the end of September and is the most affordable option in the range, which also includes the standard V40 and the V40 Pro. Therefore, I believe that the “E” in the name represents “economic”, but I bet that Vivo would not agree with me. The V40E is a mid -range smartphone whose main sales argument is its design and an assertion that it is the thinnest smartphone with a 5,500 mAh battery. Vivo also declares that the phone is a pro to take pictures of portraits thanks to the light aura.
At a starting price of RS. 28,999, the Vivo V40E rings as a good deal for something specifically looking for a phone with a large battery, a thin design and to take many photos of portraits. Is it, however? Read the rest to discover it.
Vivo V40E Design: Visually pleasant
- Dimensions – 163.7 × 75 × 7.49 mm
- Weight – 183g
- Colors – Mint green, royal bronze
You get an elegant and elegant phone as announced. The Vivo V40E is only 7.49 mm and feels thinner thanks to the curved edges at the front and at the rear. The corners are rounded and you get a shiny plastic frame. The top and the bottom are however flattened. You will also find the camera module in the shape of a pill / lock hole with the outgoing upper oval and the lower unit seated at light will have LEDs at the rear. We have examined the royal bronze unit, which has a matt finished rear plastic panel and has no patterns. The panel is subject to fingerprints and scratches, so it is best to protect the phone with a case.
The phone is only 7.49 mm thick despite a 5,500 mAh battery
The phone has the right amount of weight, and it seems that it costs more than. The right edge houses the volume and the power pimples. There is a microphone, a speaker, a SIM tray and a USB type C port at the bottom, while the top houses another microphone. The V40E also obtains an IP64 rating, and I found a rubber seal inside the SIM card tray.
Vivo V40E display: large and winding
- Size – 6.77 inch, Full HD + resolution
- Type – AMOLED, 120 Hz
- Protection – Schott Xensation Up Glass
At the front, the phone has a large screen with curved sides. In addition to making the phone thinner than it really is, the curved sides also make side glasses thinner. The glasses are also uniform at the top and bottom. The panel is very shiny for use inside, and it can also be used outside, as long as it is not a super shiny day.
The display supports a 120 Hz refreshment rate
Regarding the refresh rate, the screen also obtains 120 Hz support with an available smart switch option. You can also switch between 60 Hz or 120 Hz. The display supports HDR10 + and offers three color modes – standard, professional and bright. There is also a SGS Low Blue Light certification available on the phone. Everything above makes the display on the Vivo V40E an excellent option to watch content and play games.
The fingerprint scanner in the case is low
The display also offers a fingerprint scanner in the frame, which, with the exception of some unsuccessful attempts, was fast and worked well during my stay with the phone.
Vivo V40E Software: Smooth but inflated
- OS – Android 14
- UI – Funtouch OS 14
- Last security fix – October 1st
The Vivo V40E manages Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14, and I received several updates during the examination period. Vivo has promised to provide three years of updates to the operating system and four years of security fixes. The software experience is like most other mid -range smartphones from Vivo. You get a lot of third-party applications from the start, but fortunately, they can be uninstalled. There is also the Vivo V-APPSTORE and some other VIVO applications, such as the browser, which continue to send notifications and cannot be deleted.
Light will have rear can be used for notifications
However, you will find useful features on the phone. An AI gourmet tool is present in the Gallery application, and it works decently. You also get a function of improving the IA photo which is supposed to manage, embellish and reduce the noise. However, it did a good job in reality. You also get features such as an intelligent sidebar to use the curved display, the dynamic light that uses the aura light to show notifications, the ambient light effect that uses on -board lighting for notifications and acts as a light show when you play music, and more.
The software experience on the phone is mainly fluid, but the unwanted notifications of integrated applications are quite boring.
Vivo v40e performance: pretty good
- SOC – Mediatek Dimensity 7300
- RAM – 8 GB LPDDR4X
- Storage – up to 256 GB UFS 2.2
The Dimensity Mediatek 7300 on the V40E is an octa-core 4 Nm chipset which is associated with the MEDIATEK NPU 655 GPU and a Mali-G615 ARM. Regarding regular use, I have not noticed any discrepancy. The applications open quickly, multitasking is not a task and animations throughout the user interface are smooth. The camera application also works perfectly and there is no major shutter shift. Overall, this phone is easy to recommend for daily tasks.
The game is not a problem on the phone, and it doesn’t heat up much either
I ran a few marks to compare it with phones in a similar price medium, and the figures showed that the VIVO V40E offered lower performance in most cases. Of course, you should keep in mind that these benchmarks should not be taken at their nominal value, because a real use of words will vary.

The phone also occurred decently by playing games and did not overheat even after a 45 -minute session of BGMI. I played BGMI with HDR graphics and an ultra image frequency and I did not notice any major gap. I also played in peoplehin impact and COD with average parameters, and they worked well especially.
The phone has a double-speaker configuration, which is good enough for use inside. It does not offer much bass, but there is a volume recall mode which increases the sound output. Calls and connectivity are also quite good. The audio of the microphone and the ear speaker was clear at both ends, and I did not notice any major network problem in my region.
Vivo V40E cameras: not the pro, it is claimed to be
- Main rear – 50 megapixels, Ois, Sony IMX882 sensor, f / 1.79 opening
- Secondary ultrawide – 8 megapixels, f / 2.2, 116 degrees FOV
- Selfie – 50 megapixels, auto -focus, f / 2.0, 92 degrees FOV
You get two rear cameras on the V40E and two different types of LED flash. Light will be mainly intended for portrait photos, but you can use it in a creative way as a filling light.
There are two different LED options available on the phone
The main camera is good for daylight photos but can produce decent night results. The photos offer good details, colors and a white balance. Even the photos in low light with enough lighting offer good details, but with a little noise.
The secondary camera, an 8 megapixel ultrairs, is correct for daylight photos, but you will see an imprecision of the colors between the two rear sensors. Low-light photos with the ultra-related camera are blurred and have an effect similar to water.
I do not know why Vivo markets this as a professional camera for portraits, because the phone does not even have a depth sensor. It uses the main camera and you can choose between a 1x or 2x harvest. However, the results are somewhat nice and you get a decent blurred effect, but detection of the edges could have been better. Light will also help take beautiful pictures of portraits at night.
SHOT portrait with light will have activated
Going forward, the 50 -megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor with automatic work does a good job with selfies. The colors of the skin are mainly precise, the colors are pleasant and there are a lot of details. Selfies in low light conditions are not so excellent, however.
Going to the video, you can save 4K 30 IPS from the main rear and front cameras. There is also an available stabilization, which does a decent job to eliminate the tremor, but the panoramic is Janky. Video quality is decent when there is a lot of light, with slightly increased colors. However, I noticed that the dynamic range and the white balance are everywhere.
Vivo V40E battery: impressive
- Capacity – 5,500mAh
- Load speed – 80W
- Load – 80W in the box
The performance of the Vivo V40E battery, as I mentioned in the sub-directorate, are impressive. The 5,500 mAh battery easily lasts a day and more with regular use. In our HD video loop test, the phone managed to last more than 32 hours on a single load. It was with the refresh rate set at 120 Hz. Not many phones in this price segment cannot manage this.
The charge is a quick business
The load is fairly fast, thanks to the 80W charger included. A full load of 0 to 100% took approximately an hour. It does not heat up during the load either.
VIVO V40E verdict
Although the Vivo V40E is certainly not the one to get if you are looking for portrait photography, this is something I would recommend if you want incredible autonomy and beautiful design. The royal bronze option is pleasant to look at and the curved edges facilitate the phone. The phone also has a large bright screen for most conditions. The sound outlet is decent, the main rear camera and the front camera are good during the day and the performance is also quite decent.
Regarding alternatives, you can opt for the phone nothing 2A Plus (critical) if you want a more unique design and better performance. The Nord 4 OnePlus (review) is also an excellent choice if you prefer better cameras and much higher performance. There is also the Infinix Zero 40 (review), which offers much better performance and a good main rear camera.
