She booked a room with a view and received a concrete slap on her face.
British mother Kim Antrobus says that the trip of her girls to Portugal was “ruined” after paying more for a view of the majestic Atlantic Ocean, just to find themselves looking directly at a couple of monotonous apartment buildings.
Antrobus, 43, and her friend Louise Edlin disbursed more than $ 500 for something called “Lateral Sea view” in Costa Da Caparica last month.
But instead of a sweeping view, she states that they were received with a gloomy urban scene that said it looked more like “Beirut or in the center of the city of London.”
“My friend had to get on the balcony, he leaned out just and said ‘You can see (the sea)’,” Anthrobus told Kennedy News.
She continued, remembering: “I could not see myself. I have a slippery album and there is no way that I can support me so far to see it.”
Loveholidays, the online travel agency through which the trip was reserved, reported that the couple had He received a view of the sea, although one that required some acrobatics to take a look.
“She said you can ‘see (the sea) with a section’,” Anthrobus said.
“It does not say on the website a ‘view of the side sea with a stretch on the balcony’.”
The duo ended up forking more money to update to a better room.
Antrobus, who works in marketing and is the mother of four children, criticized the original list as “misleading.”
“For me that was not a sea sight,” he said. “It just didn’t seem to be on vacation by the sea. It wasn’t the opinion I expected.”
“It was a beautiful hotel, just a shocking side sea view,” he added. “We changed rooms immediately, I wasn’t staying in that room.”
Love Holidays offered a partial refund, but also passed the money to the hotel.
“While each hotel classifies its room types differently, we understand the disappointment of Mrs. Antrobus, and as a gesture of goodwill, we have offered an additional eur 30 reimbursement that you paid to update a sea sight room,” the company said in a statement.
Even so, the experience left a bad taste.
“It was a nightmare to contact Loveholidays.
She emphasized: “I will not reserve with them again. I would say to other people to remain clear.”
