A mother’s blow was so great that strangers thought it was “false” and joked that he wore a “Penthouse.”
Lauren Draper, 22, was delighted when she was pregnant with her fourth son in June last year.
He went to scan at 24 weeks due to the reduced movements of his unborn baby and told him that he had an excessive amount of amniotic fluid in the uterus.
Lauren was diagnosed with polyhydramnios, where she has too much liquid during pregnancy, and was closely monitored.
At 29 weeks, Lauren began to realize how big his bulge was, due to the accumulation of fluids, and began to fight to walk and roll in bed.
It was admitted to the hospital at 31 weeks of pregnancy, due to the risk of prolapse of the cord.
At 34 weeks of pregnancy, his bulge was so great that the strangers thought he had quadruple and even joked “What’s there, an attic?”
Lauren welcomed little Olyve, now three months, on January 6, 2025, at 3:29 am, with a weight of 6 pounds 1 oz.
Lauren, a cardiff supporter, Wales, said: “People said ‘My God, what’s there? A Penthouse? A three -bedroom apartment?’
“I was a fair size.
“People saw the lump before they saw me.
“In the elevator, someone said ‘How many do you have?’ I said ‘only one’ and she asked ‘Can I touch it?’
“People also thought it was false and said ‘it’s ai’.
“When my waters were a nurse, he said” Look how much your belly has lowered. “It was like a pancake!
“It took 10 days to go down.”
Lauren was already being closely monitored due to a high -risk pregnancy, after going through a spontaneous abortion in 2022.
He had experienced polyhydramnios with his first child, now seven, but was only collected at 38 weeks.
This time, the doctors of the round noticed that it was a problem at 24 weeks and that the liquid still increased at 29 weeks.
The doctors realized that little Olyve did not swallow the liquid, causing the accumulation in Lauren’s uterus.
In December 2024, Lauren had steroid shots to try to help mature Olyve’s lungs and was admitted to the hospital.
The accumulation of liquids also left Lauren struggling to move and even caused bruises in his ribs.
She said: “I left all these bruises, it was very tender.”
He spent three weeks there before going labor at 34 weeks and four days.
But when Lauren began to sprout, the blood doctors realized that he was having a placental detachment and that it was urgent for an emergency caesarean section.
He could see his little girl seven hours later, after losing five liters of blood.
Lauren said: “They said that when he was born he wasn’t breathing.
“She was blue. It was horrible to listen to him.
“Seeing her in an incubator, it was horrible.”
Little Olyve is still fighting in the hospital, fighting with respiratory failure, but Mother Lauren has all the faith that she will go through.
