Logan Gifford was only 10 years old when his mother, Doreene, first sexually abused him.
He suffered these horrible assaults for six years and during that time, Doreene gave birth to another son.
Now, at 26, Logan is taking legal measures to carry out a paternity test on his younger brother, whom he suspects his son could be.
“My brother could be my son”
According to 8 News Now, Logan’s 15 -year -old brother currently lives with him and experiences cognitive difficulties.
“There is the possibility that my brother can be my son. I am still directly involved in the disaster he has left me,” says Logan.
“He deserves to have a quiet and peaceful life … he didn’t ask for any of this.”
In a preliminary audience of 2015, Logan reported how abuse began.
He told court that his mother invited him to the room she shared with her father, Theodore. By then, most of the family was asleep and playing a pornagraphic movie. While they were in the room, she began to bother him.
Logan explained to the Court that he was abused at the end of 2008, who aligned himself with the conception of his younger brother.
Doreene was accused of sexual aggression with a minor and incest, however, he denied all the accusations. Finally, it was sentenced between eight and 20 years after a guilt agreement was made.
A therapist suggested that Logan could be the father
In 2024, Doreene was released on probation, but months later, she was arrested for violating one of her conditions when trying to contact two of her children, including Logan.
Still living with the trauma, Logan said that playing a role in sending his mother to jail “halfway” he claimed him. Unfortunately, his life has remained unraveled after a therapist told him that his brother could also be his son.
“He was 17 years old at that time,” he told The La Vegas Review-Journal.
“That threw me into a loop. I didn’t ask for any of this.
“I was a child when all this happened and, nevertheless, I am now responsible for collecting the pieces of something that really still has an impact on my life and drag me to deal with that.”
Logan added that he did not have a “traditional childhood”: he was exposed to drug use from an early age and had regular encounters with child protection services.
Tragically, his younger brother drowned at age three.
Logan has tried to move forward with his life, becoming an avid activist for voting rights, in addition to marrying, raising his stepdaughter and caring for his brother.
He decided to talk about what he experienced so that other survivors of the victims do not have to suffer alone.
“Sitting here and saying that my brother can be the product of my sexual assault is something very visceral to think as a male survivor.
“But he is here now. There is no return and undo anything. And he deserves to have a quality of life where he feels comfortable, where he can be a child.”
