A New York company is remembering some packages of its fungi due to the possible contamination of Listeria.
Harvest Nyc Inc. issued a 200 grams package retreat from the Fushi Fungi on Wednesday and the United States Food and Food Administration (FDA) announced retirement on Friday.
Fungi packages are withdrawing from the market “because they can be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, fragile or adults and other people with weakened immune systems,” according to the FDA notice.
The retired fungi were distributed by Hofood99 Inc. to retail stores throughout the country, said the FDA.
They come in a green plastic package with bar code 6975730520101 on the posterior label.
The retirement began after the samples collected from a store in Buffalo, New York, revealed the presence of Listeria Monocytogenes in some of the packages, according to the FDA.
“Although healthy people can suffer only short -term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, rigidity, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause spontaneous abortions and mortality among pregnant women,” said FDA notice.
No diseases have been reported, said the FDA.
Anyone who bought these fungi packages between January 11 and 31 is urged to destroy the products immediately or return them to the place of purchase to obtain a complete refund. “
Last month, New Age International Inc. remembered all the slats of its Daily Veggies Engoom brand due to Listeria’s concerns, according to the FDA.
Enoki fungi are commonly used in Asian cuisine.
According to Healthline, they are highly nutritious, which pack a good amount of fiber, antioxidants and vitamins B in each portion.
